Same issue with our 19 JL. Tone comes on and doesn’t go away unless vehicle sits. Seems random. Is there an official software fix from Jeep? Would think Jeep Customer Care would respond on here that there is a fix since they seem to monitor the site.

You are going to have to use lemon law to get them to do repair - what a shame how bad customer service is - they simply want to sell and not back up their vehicles -

Sorry if this just sounds repetitive, but I'm having the same issue with our 2019 Grand Cherokee which is just six months old. This has happened now several times - the sound comes on for no apparent reason as a constant background tone behind the radio, and the only way we have found to make it stop is to turn off the car and wait an hour or so.

If someone from Jeep is monitoring this thread, can you please advise as to what the current fix is for this - software or hardware? If I take the car to my dealer (outside Boston) will they know about this issue and the appropriate mitigation? Appreciate your input.

I just started having the same problem! Started today about lunch time. Nothing seems to stop tone. Turned off cell phones, turned off jeep, let Jeep sit. I will try the F11 fuse. So bad can not use radio. On AM,FM, XM, Bluetooth, and CarPlay. Hope to Jeep into dealer tomorrow...

Yep - there's definitely an issue here. Based on all the different posts here, it looks to me to be a problem within UConnect and not limited to a specific model (happens on our Grand Cherokee, but also on Wranglers, etc.) I'm going to take our in to the dealer next week as well and will post what I learn.

Started the Jeep yesterday morning only to find a background single-note tone being transmitted over the infotainment system (8.4). AM, FM, SMX all the same. I could hear the radio, but the tone was about half volume and really irritating. Reminded me of the tone that was broadcast when old time television shut down for the night. Oh yes, it was there when using our phones via Bluetooth. Only the direction lady didn't have an underlying tone.

I shut off our phones ... no change. Restarted the Jeep multiple times .. no change. Didn't know about the Fuse 11 reboot trick yesterday, so didn't perform that.

After about 150 miles with 25 to 30 stop/start operations, we stopped for dinner. Just to add to the irritation, dinner was slow being served ... took about one hour. But, when we started the Jeep the tone was gone. Started the Jeep this morning and it's still gone.

Two questions: 1) Has anyone else experienced this? I couldn't find any threads that addressed this problem. 2) Besides a reboot with Fuse 11, anybody have other trouble shooting ideas?

Oh yes, we've been visiting Ghost Towns for the past three weeks - Saturday's trip included three close to home - but, I'm sure an exorcism is not required.
I too am having the same frustrating problem! Seems there are various temporary solutions to getting the tone to cease but it yet returns randomly. I checked with the dealership and they reported Jeep does not have a solution and it was originally thought to be an amplifier issue. However in reading through this forum it appears this same issue is not with Wranglers alone. :( Very dissatisfied.

My 2018 Overland was repaired with software update- it is a software problem dealers don't want to fool with - one of the safety sensor is not going off as it should - they repaired mine after I started a lemon law suit and got the state of Texas involved-

Add me to this list. My wife came home and said the radio is making a constant tone. Quick google search and here I am! Guess I will see if it goes away and will take to my dealer for a update if it doesn't? Very annoying and unacceptable.

UPDATE: After setting a few hours I drove the Jeep into work tonight so I could take it to the dealer in the morning and the noise was gone. Hope it doesn't come back as I am taking it on a trip Wednesday.

This happened to me today on my 2018 JLUR, I had the phone plugged in on Apple CarPlay and the volume seemed way too low even when cranked up to 38, it was like 50% normal? I unplugged the phone and switched to the radio and I noticed there was a tone in the backround along with the low volume? After reading this thread, it would seem that there is some kind of problem withe "Blind Spot and Cross-path Detection" system sensor. When someone is in your blind spot it lowers the sound volume no matter the source and emits a tone for warning, that was basically what was happening to some degree. So a little over an hour later I went out to see if was still doing this and it miraculously went away? I had my JLUR into the dealer a few months a go for couple of recalls and software upgrade was done, so I'm not sure why this happed out of the blue today? @JeepCares

Thanks for reaching out. Per the Owner's Manual for vehicle on page 237 "Whenever an audible alert is requested by the BSM
system, the radio is also muted." However, if you believe that your system is not working accurately, we do recommend revisiting your dealer for assistance.

I'm having the same issue with my 2018 Grand Cherokee Overland for over a year. Just scheduled appointment number 6 with the dealer. They replaced the radio last visit. Everything was good for about 2 weeks and the problem started up again.

Really need a high level Jeep representative to take care of the issue. Very very frustrating.
