I just cottoned on to a device that has come up in other threads, but thought I would list it here for us Aussies.

Forever forgetting to turn off ESS when I start the car, I have often wondered if the default position could be changed, until today. The device plugs into the existing wiring and allows the ESS to default to the previously used condition. It does not disable ESS, so I can use it when I want. It does mean that more often than not, it will be in the off position when I next start the car. Hallelujah.

"Easy installation takes about 15 seconds to a minute, depending on model. There are NO side effects, NO fault messages, NO fault beeps and NO fault codes set. The driver, if he or she wishes, can instantly turn the ESS back on at the press of a button."

Reportedly works in both 3.6l petrol and 2.2l diesel options.

I have ordered mine today and expect to receive in approx two weeks. Will post more details once installed.

Let us know how it goes. In the meantime, I have a start up procedure:

Start the motor
Press the air conditioner button
Press the entertainment system button
Press the ESS button.

I feel like I am piloting a space ship in a 1950's - 1960's science fiction movie!

Arrived in the post today. Will try the installation sometime over the weekend. Doesn't look difficult.

The hardest thing is getting the connector out, mine were pretty snug but they have been plugged in and uplugged lots of times so now they are pretty easy.

The SSS module works perfect and works every time

Too easy. Only took a few minutes. Now what to do with the rest of the weekend.

Yes, getting access to the connector is a bit tight, but the connector on the device makes contact with a positive 'click', so you know it's in place.

Thanks to those who offered their experiences.

Works a treat. This really is a simple solution to what I find to be a really frustrating function.
