I put a Metalcloak skid on the rear Differential.
I have concerns about a full skid system holding too much heat in.
Thoughts?
I have the full system on mine and no issues at all. The exhaust is pretty open to shed heat other than the t-case skid. It is something I was kind of worried about too but so far no issues and I have about 5K miles of use with it installed.

I called Evo earlier this week to ask if they had a set for the 2.0 at this time. They have them for the 3.6.

The guy who answered the phone was a bit surly and just said "Nope...". I asked if they planned to make them for the 2.0 and he said "Nope..." - literally had the impression he didn't want to be on the call.

Just as I was about to hang up, he suggested I call back next week because everyone was at SEMA and maybe their lead engineer knew more than he did...and just like that I realized why he was surly (didn't get to go to SEMA, handling all the inbound calls like mine spurred by SEMA announcements, etc.). I'll call next week and see if they plan to field a product. :)

Link to the Asfir unit for the 2.0 that folks mentioned above:

Only question I have is whether this can bolt in while still retaining the factory skids. I *think* it can, but would want to confirm before going down this path.

The MetalCloak are terrific. Fit is good. I like them.

Okay, I'm gonna expose some ignorance here but nothing ventured...

How does adding these more complete skid plate setups affect things like engine heat and under body wind noise? It seems like it would trap more heat, but to a significant amount? I can see noise going either way, less because it's more "sleek", more because there's just additional metal to bounce sounds waves off of. I can also see where neither concern really matters because the seat-of-the-pants effect is negligible.

It probably has some impact but most of them expose the exhaust as well as large areas of the engine bay. So a lot of airflow to still cool stuff down. Perhaps if you let it sit and idle in 100F heat it could have an impact.

I haven’t noticed any difference. Heat or sound.

How is the install?
Do the factory ones come off?
Pretty easy. Had to drill one hole. Would be a bit easier with an extra hand. Just don't tighten everything till the end.

I'm about to order this one from ASFIR, shipping from Israel is a bit scary.
I only want the engine portion at this time. Any USA Manufacturer that sell just the engine portion?

Rustys sells the entire thing in sections, so engine only is possible. I am very happy with mine and it held up to some brutal abuse. The coating on it is also fantastic.

Saw that, but it's about $90 more when shipping is calculated.
Does it cover the transmission also?

My suggestion would be to give them a call tomorrow and see what they can do for you. The shipping calculator always quotes ups, but they did somethings for me and it came out way less.

I have the Artec aluminum for the 3.6 and love it. They make one for the 2.0 as well. It completely replaces the stock gas tank skid and adds a cross member so you can drop all the skids for maintenance and drive around and not worry about anything falling loose. The aluminum version I believe only weighs 10lbs more then the stock skid system
