I am running Cooper AT3 XLT in 285/75/17E on my 2013 F150 but would be hesitant to put them on my JL. They are heavy and stiff, I think they would rattle all the bolts out of the JL. Are most people running E rated in this size or are there now more C rated options?

I just put on a set of Nitto ridge grabbler 285/75r17 with stock rims, C load. Super smooth and quiet at around 36-37 psi. I don't see myself putting it in 6th gear anymore unless I'm doing 75 mph or more. Lost 2 mpg. But the look and off-road performance of those tires are fantastic when compared to OEMs.

Got new tires and rock sliders on Friday and hit the trials on Sunday lol

Any issues mounting the spare? Did you have to use a relocation bracket? Think it may be worth the extra money for the Nitto’s since they have a load C. Looks great btw!

Did u also need to get the steering stabilizer from RC? Im looking at the same lift.
No rc steering stabilizer needed. The stock one handled just fine. Its a great budget lift. No regrets.

285/75/R17 BF Goodrich All Terrain KO2 on stock wheels with no spacers. NOTE: These are 285/75/R17.

Discount tire only had 4 in stock, 5th tire is on route.

Tires clear, no rubbing on full lock when driving. Doesnt hit the frame, nor the plastics.. even with the ugly euro splash guard/bumper cover and air dam. Doesn't rub whatsoever on normal driving conditions. Haven't taken her off road yet, but will soon and will post updates. Will install a lift soon but with current stock height. No rubbing issues at all. Definitely sits higher than stock. Didn't measure for myself. However these tires have a little more than 2inches diameter increase compared to stock.

Other additions are Rough Country nerf bar side steps, plasti-dipped front tow hooks.

Drives smooth, can't feel a difference in power. Braking does feel slightly different as im pushing on it slightly harder. SLIGHTLY. But its barely a difference and not enough for concern.

Drove it 50+ miles on hwy, and maybe averaged 1 miles less per galon.. if that.. i drive 60 mph like a grandma with a very light foot.

Gone over speed bumps and a curb just for fun.. no rubbing on fenders.. still plenty of room.

Do you need to get the wheels spacer for this set up or you don't have too? Is it gonna rub without wheels spacer?

No wheel spacers necessary, didnt rub at all at full lock, flexed it out quite a bit and you might get the slightest rub in the rear, but you have to be articulating quite a bit.

I can tell you i drove ~170 miles down from Seattle to Portland on stock tires. i reset my TRIP A and throughout the trip down and i got my MPG to show 26 MPG easily, and at the most 27.4 mpg. Drove around 60-65 mph the entire time.

Now I got the tires in Portland Oregon, on the trip home back up to Seattle, I again reset my TRIP B, and throughout the trip my MPG were reading 23 MPG, the best i could get it to read was 23.5, and that was again around 60 mph, no matter economically i drove, i couldn't get it to the 24 MPG range, so it looks like i did loose a few, but considering the stance and a little lift i get, i am okay with that.

You did not reprogram for the tire size. You seed the speedometer is reading low. The built-in MPG is not accurate.

I just added the 285/75/17 to my JL sport s with no lift. It doesn’t rub and full turn, but does at about 3/4 turn. Any idea what that would be? Otherwise stock JL.

Hi all, rejoined the club a few weeks ago with the purchase of a low mileage 2018 JLUS. I wanted to thank @Dangitbilly for this thread, as it helped me immensely with figuring out what tires to put on. I went with 285/75r17 KO2s, and I couldn't be happier. No rubbing on-road, but I haven't been offroad in it yet. I plan to do mostly beach/trail driving rather than any hardcore technical stuff, so I'm thinking I'll be fine. Also debating a small lift (RC or Terraflex) in the future, but I may just wait until it's time for new tires in 60k miles to go bigger.

Anyway, thanks again to all for the discussion in this thread, it answered a lot of questions and made me feel really confident with my tire purchase and setup!

I looking for some help on spacers also. Going with the 285/70/17 on factory JL Sport rims. Looking for that wider stance also.

So, what are your thoughts on spacers?

Removed the bumper euro splash guards to show off the tires. Happy with the look. Also edited the lighting in the photo to better show the new tire size difference.

How do those NOT rub against the euro fender?? i put on 285/70R/17s and they rub a dub dubbed when wheels turned all the way. Oh i do have 4.5 backspaced wheels. Maybe that did it.

I get no rubbing at all lock to lock, even when flexed a little, and with the euro guards on. I haven't pushed that too much to find out if there's a point where I'm into the fender, but I don't believe so based on Dangitbilly's earlier posts. Stock wheels with 285 75s.
