Toyo makes a C rated in their Open Country R/T 315 size as well. So is Patagonia the only ones making a 38” C rated now? What about 37” C rated? Still no one?

Those seem to be very rare birds :(

Wow!! Thanks for the research here! That is crazy they don’t make a c rated 37 yet. (Edit: I see the BFG C rated you mention now~never heard of Krawler T/A) I guess the JL is still fairly new (that’s a stretch) or maybe they mostly go D to still appeal to other vehicles. It’s funny how C rated comes back into the picture though on 38 (Pat) and 39 (KM3) and 40s.

I really hope this discussion continues. I’m running 35” Goodyear MTRs that are c rated and are great tires, but loud. I keep hoping a c rated 37 will come out, and don’t understand why its really the ONLY size that doesn’t have it as an option. I’m almost ready to go to the 38” pats for the c rating and I don’t want pats or 38s.

Exactly! I am the same way. I don’t want Pats or 38s but was starting to look at them. Hell, I even briefly looked at the C rated 39” KM3s before quickly coming back down to reality.

In 35x12.50/17, Cooper ST Maxx is C rated. I have these in 305-12.50/18, E rated on my truck and they are a decent mud/AT cross.

My understanding about the question of C rated 37" and larger tires is that the rating refers to the amount of weight the tire is capable of safely carrying at the maximum rated pressure. These ratings no longer have meaning to the number of plies or how thick the plies are, nor what material the plies are made from.

The larger tire may jump into the next higher load range just due to a larger size tire being able to carry a heavier load.

What this might mean is that a 37" D rated tire may have identical ply construction as a tire that is smaller, carrying a C rating.

Looks like they don't make that size anymore or the chart isn't updated?? Most of the sizes are E-rated except that 315/70 & 37 that are Ds.

Not really sure how Cooper does it but their STT Pros are E-rated in most 17" sizes under 37
~they run much truer to size (height & width)
~get great tread wear
~some of the deepest tread depths
~ are one of the most aggressive off-road performers
~good cold weather performer
~made in the USA
~And to top it off they are about in the middle or even to the lighter side vs. other tires of same sizing.

I keep shopping/researching all sorts of tires trying to find something that checks all the boxes, the only box the STT Pro doesn't check is the C or D load rating, that's one box that needn't be checked for all the other awesome attributes.

I think I'll be spending my research time on other things now :)

I've been on Coopers in my 2014 Truck for about 90,000 miles. I got about 60,000 on the first set of STMaxx. Then I bought this second set of Mickey Thompson Baja ATZ tires which are essentially the same tire, when 4Wheelparts ran a sale on M/T tires. Cooper owns/makes Mickey Thompson and Cepek tires. I like them. They are a bit noisy on the road, once the newness is gone, but work very well off road. I'm a fan.

@wibornz is one of the STT Pro "faithful", and what he puts his Jeep through I'm 100% sold on them :)
Nice to hear about your Cooper (and associated brands) longevity & performance.

I had MT Baja Belted and Baja King tires back in the 80s and they were about the baddes tires around back then (along w/ Goodyear Wrangler R/Ts) :)
