Have you kept your mileage manually...separate from the computer? There are a lot of ways the computer could have been set different than reality.

nope I do that stuff, but I have been obsessed with why my mileage is so low and feel guilt in gunning it to merge on to the freeway.. being really cared.. want to go to dealership but feel like they will blame my tires
FWIW I only lost 1mpg when I went from stock tires to the 37's. Not a direct comparison since mine is a 2dr, but so far I'm staying at 20ish. I wonder if you have a leak somewhere.

I know everyone jokes about "if you want good gas mileage, get a Prius," but that is insanely low. I pretty much do all in town driving in my JLUR and get around 16-17 mpg.

Fill it up, reset odo, drive half a tank, fill back up - and see how many gallons it took compared to miles you’ve driven?

Is your speed correct (ie is odo correct) - open Waze and see if speed based on GPS is close?

Jeeps lots of jeeps
Since replacing my rear bumper my plate has been zip tied to my spare tire.

I'm not a fan of the plate being on the wheel. Outside of this there aren't really any options on the market. I decided to make my own solution by using the Aries front plate bracket.

I drilled three holes through my rear bumper. I used two to mount the bracket. I used the third hole to run wiring through. I used the stock rear bumper wiring harness so I did not need to splice into stock wiring. I was able to use the dedicated plug.

Required items:

Aries front bracket
Pilot LED license plate light
Drill
Wire strippers
Soldering iron
Heat shrink

Optional items:

Rustoleum textured black to paint drill holes

Clear Plasti Dip. I sprayed the whole light to keep water out and to dull the LEDs a bit.

Thanks @kheidolph looks like a pretty comprehensive install pdf. Between this and the install vids I should be good to go. Much appreciated!

I’d be very interested to see how you used the oem camera housing, I’ve been thinking about a way to do this myself as I don’t need to mount a plate and I don’t plan on using the Ace brake light solution. I won’t know how feasible it is until I get the bracket from Ace, but my plan was to use the Mopar 3rd brake light relocation and try to use the oem camera mount. I’m leaving the license plate in my RockHard 4x4 rear bumper.

@ExitLeft

I saw you are going to start on your ACE Tire Carrier install today. Good luck and bring a beer. It's a bear, but worth it.

Here is the quick and dirty on that camera mod...and yes, this is the quick version. Hopefully this helps you and anyone else who wants to maintain a stock camera setup.

Good luck and let me know if you have any questions or problems as you go through this. I think I got all of the key steps covered.

DIFFICULTY:

3 out of 5 swear words. Extra parts, machining, cutting, drilling, and swearing required...but worth it for a clean looking install.

NOTES:

1. You will need the pick up 2 parts from Amazon or similar retailer:
- EAG Backup Camera Adapter - $70 - https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07K79ZR4L
You could probably bypass this by cutting up your stock carrier, but for $70, it's just easier to buy this and it works well for this guide.
- Delta Lights Lug Nut LED Brake Lights - $50 - https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00BY2OFQS
If you don't want to use this option as a 3rd tail light, then you can skip it. But I found it was the easiest and cleanest solution

2. You will need a spacer to correct for a small step that Jeep fabricated into their internal camera mounting bracket. Pretty sure they did this to discourage people from doing what I'm doing. I recommend using a piece of LEXAN/polycarbonate/Pleaxiglass/OPTIX (whatever your hardware store carries) with a thickness of about 2.4mm (.094") and an 8x10 sheet should be more than enough.

2. Unless you have the tools at home, you will need to go to a metal fabricator to make the changes to the ACE tire stanchion. I'm located near LA and this was $150 to have done. I'm sure you can get it done for less, but everyone here gouges you on one off things like this.

INSTRUCTIONS:

1. Remove the license plate standoff mount from the ACE tire stanchion and drill holes (IMG-001 & IMG-002). This can be cut or milled (milled in my case). Additionally, drill a 1" hole into the center of the stanchion where the mount previously was. You will also need to drill a 1" hole in the bottom of the ACE tire stanchion right up against the mounting plate (IMG-002). EXPERT TIP: Use some liquid electrical tape to coat the edges of the hole where the wire will rub to prevent the sharp edges from cutting any wires. You can also file down any rough edges to assist with protection.

2. (OPTIONAL DEPENDING ON BRAKE LIGHT SETUP) Mark and drill holes for the Lug Nut LED tail lights that were purchased (IMG-003 & IMG-004). Use a tire or other template to determine drill locations.

004-20190419_132316.jpg

3. Trim and drill a piece of LEXAN (or similar) as shown in the images below (IMG-005 & IMG-006). It's easiest to trim the LEXAN so it fits into the back side of the EAG mount you drilled holes in during the previous step. From there you can center it and mark other areas to trim and drill. The bottom will need to be cut off so that it does not contact the larger spacer at the 6 o'clock position that Jeep uses in their internal camera mount. You can then test mount it onto the ACE tire stanchion that has been previously modified.

006-20190419_190604.jpg

4. Layout all of the components, touch up paint as needed, and do a test fit (IMG-007 - IMG-009). Everything should easily fit together easily and line up well. Notice in IMG-009 that from the side the plastic bushings from the Jeep internal camera mount line up with the face of the EAG camera housing.

009-20190419_134009.jpg

5. Mount everything to the tire carrier (IMG-010 - IMG-014). Also feed all wires and hook up the camera which goes through the new holes you drilled into the ACE tire stanchion. This is the last step to make sure everything aligned properly.

013-20190419_141931.jpg

014-20190419_141938.jpg

6. (OPTIONAL DEPENDING ON BRAKE LIGHT SETUP) Cut 2 pieces of 1/2" PVC to length based on the depth of your lug holes so the purchased lug lights are recessed, but not too deep (IMG-015). NOTE: You will need to connect the EAG harness in place of the stock ACE harness for the brake lights.

015-20190420_173040.jpg

7. Mount your wheel and run any remaining wires (IMG-016). DONE. Retorque everything in 100 miles.
