So now that I've had my doors and top off my 2018 JLUR, I'm noticing the NO SOUND option, fixed it by clicking on the AM button. I've had my doors off for about 2 weeks now and this is the 4th time it has occurred...thought it was just me. It didn't seem to happen before when the doors are on but hope i don't have to mess with fuses.

The other issue with low sound has happened to me with or without doors, restarting the car eventually fixes it but is quite annoying when on long trips. Has only happened 2 or 3 times for the 1.6 years of ownership.

The latest Uconnect issue i'm experiencing is (doors off) the sound appears to be only coming from the passenger side, more specifically, passenger rear? Not sure what this was about but just happened this AM and went away after stopping for groceries and returning home.

Again...this is my first Jeep and hoping this is not what people are referring to when they say "it's a Jeep Thing"...for a $60K Wrangler Rubicon, was hoping to get better quality than this...
My first Jeep as well....sharing the same experience as you.....It’s a Jeep thing....lol

Darlene,

JeepCares is documenting and escalating the issues mentioned in this and other threads located within this forum. Can you provide any case(s) where the volume issues both low and no volume have been completely resolved or do you not follow through to resolution?

I received the following from the Customer Relations Manager at my dealership:

"I just wanted to update you on the Uconnect Radio issue that you had emailed us about back in July. We had our Service Department open up a case to see if we could get any further insight into the issue you are having. Attached is the case details they sent back to us for you to view. It seems they are still investigating into the matter. Hopefully they will find a resolution soon, but I wanted to make sure you were kept up to date."

Resolution
Description: no fix, engineering is still investigating

I have been experiencing the same radio issue with my New JL (4months old) I get no sound or sometimes there is sound but you can't get the sound to play loud. I took it to the dealership yesterday (9/14/19) for the Steering Damper recall and talked to them about my radio issue too. Dealership stated that the FCA is investigating the issue and there is no fix yet. About a month ago I did open a case with the FCA advising them of the issue. They closed the case until I had documentation of taking it to the dealership. FCA advised me to have the dealership call them when I took the vehicle in. The dealership said they called them and received the information that they are still working on the fix. I advised the dealership to document my issue so I can get this fixed I showed them my video recording I took of the issues the radio is doing. I guess i just wait now.. Very frustrating to have this happen every 3-4 times I drive the jeep, Only quick fix I found is pulling the radio fuse.

View attachment 227648 View attachment 227648 Beautiful day in Pa today so I took my Rubicon out for a ride, it had been sitting in the garage for about 3 weeks. I put it into reverse and got the “blue screen of death”, radio volume was 1/3 of what it should be and intermittent audio, 5 seconds of audio 1 second of silence repeatedly.

I guess they’ll document it for me when they change the steering damper.

The third time I shut the Rubicon off and back on the backup camera worked and the intermittent audio stopped however volume remained low.

@JeepCares

So new Jeep JL owner here and have experienced the following items in the past month with my 8.4 inch radio. I'm sure others have the same problems, and wondering if/when they will get fixed.

Issue 1. No sound from Radio.
Fix: Click FM, AM, then it starts working.

Issue 2. Green screen when backing up.
Fix: Resolved on its own after coming out of Reverse, which cycled the camera off/on.

Issue 3. Radio/Controls completely useless with Radio/uconnect stuck on one station and volume. Mute button did not work, neither did anything else. The Screen Off button worked though.
Fix: After about 15 minutes, radio/uconnect went back to normal.

Issue 4. Sound volume very low. Turning up to the max of 30 was similar to around 15 when working. Sub had no sound. Bluetooth call was very low. Button click sounds were quite loud though.
Fix: Powered car off, went and had dinner. Came back in about 1 hour and it was back to normal.

I have had all of these and they have replaced my back up camera already. I am currently at the dealership having another issue with my camera. I put it in reverse and the radio stays on the screen now they’re thinking the whole infotainment system needs to be replaced.

I have had this issue twice so far. And that fix doesn't work for me. The 1st time, no audio from any audio producing source, tried turning on and off the Jeep a couple times, no luck. After an extended "Jeep Off period", came back, and the radio was back to normal.

The 2nd time just happened today. No matter how many key off/on cycles, no fix would work. Turned off radio, and would turn it on once in a while to see if it was working, after about 20 minutes, and 5 cycles of the the radio, it was back to working normally.

Do I think its a problem, hell yes. But how do you take it to the Dealership when its happened twice over 10k miles?

I have had the same issues and the service manager said to take a video of it because FCA wants too see it. I did this and they are ordering a new infotainment system for my Jeep so I say try it with your dealership

You are not alone! My JL Rubicon just sat at the dealer for 2 weeks and they couldn't reproduce the intermittent audio pausing that my jeep is having. I just picked it up today and geewhiz there's the problem again, imagine that. I heard that the official line right now is to tell customers that if there is no error code, then there is no error. I researched this on YouTube from others that are having the same problem and they said their dealers didn't help them either. Dealers were replacing radios only to have the problem happen again. It is a software issue. My jeep didn't do this until the November update. Additionally, it seems to be only occurring cold weather. It also doesn't do it in accessory mode, engine off. I'm fed up. I'm trading mine off soon.
Anybody having issues should take a video of it. I was told to do this at the dealership and they said it’s because FCA needs to see it. I will say that they are ordering a new infotainment system for it.

Mine has done this twice so far. It happens about 2 hours after dash cluster crashes.
Were they able to determine the problem?
My Rubicon was doing the same thing and I was told by the dealership to take a video of it so they could see it and I did that. I showed the service manager and he contacted FCA and they are ordering me a new infotainment system so no matter what it is doing take a video that way you don’t have to leave your Jeep with them and see if they can duplicate it.

I am having similar issues, and see posted multiple times to "private message" the Jeep Social Care Specialist. I see how to send a private message, but how do I search a care specialist to send them a message?
