Still noticing the noise and trying to pinpoint where /what it could be. It sounds like a fan running air noise. When driving it coincides with acceleration but occurs at idle as well. When I come to a stop and the ESS kicks in it stops, so must be tied to engine. Also, all radio/vent fan/Air Conditioning is off so not tied to those systems.

Iā€™ll prob stop by a local dealership and see what I can find out.

Mystery solved.... additional noise is due to the all weather mats and the open drain plug.

Hello- I am awaiting on build/delivery of my Sahara Altitude with 3.6 BSG. So far, I've not heard any impressions of how this configuration performs- especially in comparison to the stock 3.6 and the 2.0 BSG.. since you guys already received yours, care to share your impressions of off the line performance? Any MPG to report?
Thanks!

Did you take delivery yet?

I already posted in a different thread my experience with it, but hereā€™s the summary - LOVE IT, no regrets on choice at all. Start/Stop is seamless, throttle response off the line is almost a tad too much, I needed to learn to lighten my foot on starting from a stop to not startle my passengers or spin the 33ā€ K02ā€™s on a turn. I havenā€™t manually calculated my MPG, but after about 1000 miles of mostly non-highway driving the computer says the average is just under 19 MPG. Peppy, smooth, only 1000 miles in but Iā€™m happy with my choice.

Thank you very much for reporting back. So, I've been reading (mostly) that there's no difference off the line from the non-BSG 3.6- but you seem to be experiencing something more... have you driven a non-BSG 3.6 to get an impression that the BSG does in fact assist with off the line performance?

Thanks again!

When I was shopping, there were no 3.6 BSGā€™s in the wild yet. I drove the 2.0 BSG and 3.6 ESS back to back, and a 3.6 ESS again at another dealer. It was nearly 3 weeks from my last test drive to taking delivery - so certainly take my observation with a grain of salt, but my butt dyno tells me the BSG is doing more, even if only a split second, at launch than just starting the motor - it really pulls and I didnā€™t remember having that impression on my test drives of the 3.6 ESS.

Iā€™m curious if itā€™s a larger electric motor/generator than in the 2.0, I think its a larger one in the dodge pickup application, might be the same. After launch, it doesnā€™t add anything, so the published HP/TQ numbers are the same between the BSG and ESS - so weā€™ll have to wait for someone to properly dyno the two.

This is super encouraging to hear! I wonder why the 3.6 BSG isnā€™t talked about much ... oh! I know! Itā€™s because itā€™s not offered in the mighty Rubicon and only in the mall-crawler lol

Are you getting 19 mpg with the 3.6 or 2.0? I wish I was getting 19 mpg...

Here's my experience so far. JLUS 3.6 w BSG, all stock at the moment. Getting 17 mpg (mixed but mainly non-highway miles). I agree that the Start/Stop is seamless, very happy with it. My big problem is that there is an excessive amount of play in the steering wheel, so much so that it is unsafe to drive at highway speeds. I have a difficult time staying in my lane and can't even take my eyes off the road to change the radio station cuz I'll end up side swiping vehicles in the other lanes. It's at a different dealer today (3rd attempt) to rectify the issue. Research the threads on the forum regarding steering issues, there are tons of them. I would advise you to make sure you test drive the jeep on the highway extensively before making a purchase.

Thank you! Yes, the hit or miss steering issues are what my apprehensive point is- and will totally test drive before taking ownership!

I have the 3.6, running regular ā€˜top tierā€™ branded gas.

Sorry to hear about your steering issues. I didnā€™t experience that on my three test drives or in my Jeep. I can only imagine the frustration and hope you get it resolved.
