Yeah, they blew it. Like, its hard to screw up this badly. Its just so mediocre and lukewarm. Itll be wholesale rejected by both off roaders and mall crawling crowd alike. It just has no credibility. And if you are going to be a mall crawling poser, you at least want it to look like you are hardcore.

Land rover BK within 3 years.

Looks Ugly AF. I'd put on par with the looks of a Honda Element. And who would really take that hardcore off-roading? Its nothing more than one of their typical mom cars with a few extra off-road features. And it really is UGLY.

Man, I was defending this thing for it's "preview" across the world for the past few months. Pun intended.

I just cant, now. It looks just ugly. They clearly tried to make it look tough but failed. It would of been a decent looking car in 2004. Not now.

Makes you worry about what else they just dropped the ball on that can't be seen.
...
Nothing to do now but wait for quality reports to come in 3 years after release.

Looks like a slim Ford Flex, or a long Honda Element, or a jacked Kia Soul.

The designer of the Defender should be fired, NOW!

Yeah, looks like Jeep has nothing to worry about. Which is really kindof too bad, because FCA can get away with things like loose steering.

So the Defender has had a mostly positive reaction from folk on the U.K. forum I’m a member of. Actually surprisingly good considering JLR’s dreadful reputation over recent years for poor reliability.

Not such a good reaction to the prices though. It’s just the 110 model for now.....you get the base version D200 for £45240, the slightly more powerful D240 in HSE spec for £60505 but the one you’d want, the six cylinder 3.0 petrol mild hybrid (400bhp) costs £78800!

Did you see the OPTIONS? To even get it remotely OFF-ROAD Capable with good options is about 88,000 US dollars! F'k That noise. 700.00 for RUBBER MATS.

Contrarian view - I think the 2 door model is pretty cool looking, and if it had a removable roof like the original, would at least tempt me to see one in the flesh. Rover's reliability history doesn't give me warm and fuzzy vibes, but those tend to recede when I see a vintage Defender roar by.

I think reasonably comparable competitors to the Wrangler are only good things. If Toyota, Ford, and LR are building potentially competing models, the buyer only wins.
