Ok thank you I have dealt with the same person if this dealership wonā€™t help me I plan to go to a different one. And yes I bought it in the state of residence.

It is a V6 and honestly I didnā€™t check the oil when I bought it. And when I started having this issue I was at 26% so almost due for my first oil change. I guess Iā€™m going to go back to this dealership today and let them do the 3000 mi oil check and talk to the service manager and if they wonā€™t do anything I have already talked to a service manager at another dealer who said he would be happy to help. I will update what happens but I donā€™t plan to play dead dog and let my warranty run out. I have bought many a car and never had this problem and I come from a family of mechanics so I guess Iā€™m going for battle today!

Yeah no from everything Iā€™ve read these new 3.6ā€™s do not burn oil. I did my first oil change at 7,500 miles and there was not one drop burned. I checked the level and it was at the top of the cross hatch just like the day I drove it off the lot at 0 miles. Something is wrong for sure. Time to fight.

wasnā€™t sure how to handle this. I have always bought used and this is my first new. Someone had mentioned that some vehicles burn some till about 15k and stop. ā€ā™€

Where you parked on a hill or severe incline? The 3.6 is prone to blow by at severe angles and inclines.

No they are letting it cool for 30 min and checking on level surface. They just told me that now that Iā€™m over 7500 miles they will check it again today and look in replacing engine or whatever needs to be done!

Good attitude, but donā€™t go in angry, if you can help it.

Sounds like they may want to help.

1.5 quarts of oil burned in 2200 miles may have been normal in 1970, but it certainly is not today.

I find it a little disturbing that Jeep Cares, when trying to help (and I believe they are),
just recommends that you just seek another dealer, though.

They obviously donā€™t have any power, if thatā€™s the best they can do.

Ok so I feel like they are lying to me now. The service manager got involved and said that he checked it and it is full on the dip stick and that the chick that I have been dealing with didnā€™t know what she was doing. So I think they topped it off. Iā€™m going to mark it and then next time I go in Iā€™m staying with the vehicle for the whole cooling process. He kept saying that he will put an engine in it if it needs it and he has no problem doing it bc it pays him well. I feel like it is fake helpfulness. Iā€™m going to go in for one more 1000 mile check and if they donā€™t do anything about it Iā€™m going to a different dealer.

My 2011 JKU drank oil like crazy but it was about 1/2 to 3/4 quart a week. Most of the 3.8ā€™s were known too love the oil. Maybe nature of it or bad design idk. Not all had excessive consumption tho I just got lucky...

I was told that was normal. So I lived with it for 6 months till I lost 2 transmissions in less than 1500 miles. So I had it repaired and traded that turd for a 12 JKU that was flawless.

Iā€™ve had many vwā€™s and Audiā€™s Toyotaā€™s with extreme mileage (150k-200k+) that I never detected much oil loss between oil changes.

Oil consumption That OP is seeing ainā€™t normal period imo. Maybe If it had 300k and was 20 years old..

I agree you get more with being nice than being a ass. Just document and keep at it. But do it in a professional manner. Hope it all works out for you OP.

Yeah they don't typically burn much. I have a Durango with the 3.6 (non ESS). At 55k miles it burns maybe half a qt by 5-6000 miles.

1st oil change on my JL was spot on exactly 5 qts that came out. So they either filled a little over from the factory or it didn't burn a drop. Second oil change after 5500 miles was right about half a qt.

Wait, OP, you didnā€™t check your own oil level?

Your service guy is right, putting a new engine in DOES pay them very well, and would cost you nothing. They donā€™t sound like theyā€™re trying to screw you. How much smoke have you been blowing out the back?

FCA has an oil consumption procedure. Test can only be performed once vehicle has 7,500 miles. Accepted rate of usage is 1 qt in 2000 miles. I recommend setting up an appointment with a local dealer. Dealer will change oil or top off and have you return after driving 500 miles. At that visit they will Check the oil level 5 minutes after turning off the vehicle.
