Keep us posted, hows performance and mpgs?
Will definitely keep this updated. Performance seems ok, I havent taken it over 4k rpms though due to engine break in, average mpg is 18.

The updated Pentastar in the JL does not use direct injection. You shouldn’t hear a loud ticking noise as you would in a direct injection engine.

Not sure how loud of a tick is normal for the V6 engine.

The 2.0T is direct injection and will tick like an old VW bug that needs a valve adjustment!
Good to know, thank you for the information. Not sure if you watched my videos or not but my tick is definitely more of a knock. It sounds like metal smacking metal.

I’m definitely no expert, more of a sunshade mechanic, but that doesn’t sound like injectors.

If it’s not metal to metal, it could be an exhaust leak.

One old trick is to use a piece of wood held from different parts of the engine directly to your ear, like a stethoscope, to see where the noise is most prominent. This might help determine if it’s coming from the head, block, exhaust or an accessory item.

Sometimes you have to go old school on new school technology.

You mentioned that you listened to other JLs on the lot. What’s the sound that is distinct to your Jeep? I’m hearing a higher pitch tick and a lower frequency rumble on your video.

Exhaust leaks are usually high pitch ticks.

Well, dealership 1 gave up told. Tried to tell me it was normal drive train noise. Said I had a 5year 100k warranty, drive it until something breaks.....

I'll be getting a second opinion sometime next week if I have time.

Yep always good to get a second opinion. I’ll be taking mine in sometime this week for the loud ticking noise my Rubi started making on Friday. My neighbor said it sounded like it was one of the injectors.

Is the ticking sound coming from the top of bottom of the engine?

Gotcha, any chance you can upload a video? I'd be curious to hear it and compare it to mine.

I’ll try to upload tomorrow when I get to the work pc. My iPhone won’t let me do it. :-(

Update: Dealership called, stated they think it may be a faulty wiring harness....

Will contact me once it's replaced.

Still waiting on numbers for a buyback amount.

At the dealership now. My head Service guy said it didn’t sound out of the ordinary. And of course it didn’t knock / tap like before. I showed him the video and he said he did hear it then. He said we’ll just watch it and keep an eye on it. I’ve used Jake for years on my previous Sahara so I do tryst him.

I did need a flash update though so it’s getting that done while I’m here.
