Atlas JLUR... Jeep #5

OK, Phase 1 is almost complete. We decided to put him on the ground and take a few test drives. After torquing all bolts and doing a once over to make sure everything is tight and safe... The BIG problem is my wife swiped the keys and took Atlas for a ride. Now she is saying that her Bikini JLUR needs some upgrades! Ouch...

I have so say that, so far, this build is amazing. The ride is phenomenal! I haven't had an alignment yet and still need to modify a few details, but wow. I am impressed.

It's been a lot of fun. My son is building it with me... it's also been a HUGE learning experience.

When we were negotiating the purchase we knew that we were going to swap the wheels/tires fast and were thinking about driving it to Florida. So we had them take another $1000 off the purchase price and throw those on.

Newly added upgrades for today... aFe Cold Air intake and Pulsar programmer. Pretty easy installation on both. On initial drive after installation... holy crap, it really works! Noticeable difference... I decided to go with a couple of simple performance upgrades before the engine swap (as I am still not 100% sold on an option for that yet) to counter the 40s, etc.

Retired... twice... lol I now do some coaching for real estate agents (my 2nd retirement) but on a limited quantity basis.

Thank you for the comments and compliments! I have wanted that Rebel kit for almost 2 years now! Finally pulled the trigger with the new JLU.

Another small detail installed today... Warn Zeon 12S winch and a Factor 55 Ultrahook. We really like how this sits down in the Motobilt bumper.

These are nice... just received my Gear America order for Shackles. We got the Gray 68,000 lb Mega Shackle... these things are beefy and really cool. They add a bunch of different size rubber washers so that you can customize the fit and decrease the noise.

Did you keep the stock 44 axles? If so are you a little worried about any breakage?

Nope, as mentioned in the original post, that's Phase 2...

As an FYI, there were a lot of JLs at EJS this year running stock 44s with zero issues. It's a different animal than JK and prior.
