I have a Quadratec stubby bumper, which I very much like. Low cost, easy install, minimalist look and can use my factory fog lamps. But the lack of a low cost, simple skid plate option is irritating. They do make one, but its $230. If that is truly the best option, and that is how much I need to spend, than so be it. I don't like to spend $ for no reason, and am assuming there are lower cost options.
One I was exploring was buying Extreme Terrains Barricade front bumper skid plate. Its $79 shipped and looks about right. I'll need to bend and cut it a bit, but looks like it'll do the job.
I've already flipped the sway bar flip bolt, so that is at least partially out of the way. I really don't want to cut the mounting ears off the frame like some do, seems excessive and a good place to actually mount something. But perhaps I'm wrong? Should I explore putting a skid below my bumper, or is this not necessary? Any suggestions are appreciated.
