I have adjustable upper control arms. Fixed arms, fixed anything really seems like a waste of your money if you are upgrading.

I'm running a Metal Cloak 3.5 inch lift on 37x12.50R17 Nitto Trail Grapplers.

Brett, did you notice a difference in handling with a toe-out setup?

Did it reduce the steering deadspot at all?

JC
I never had a dead spot and didn’t notice a difference, just aligned it like Travis at steer smart said. Been doing that for every Jeep that comes thru the door now and it seems to be working great.

Thanks, so one degree total toe out?

You should get better turn in with toe out? Did you find this to be true?

Thanks!

He recommend .5°. I set them between .4-.5° when I align them or install steer smart tie rods. I honestly don’t know the reasoning behind this and have tried to get clearificiation because it kinda goes against the norm but I know they know the science and I trust them. It’s been working great. I’ll email him tomorrow and see if I can get clarification. Alignments are a science as silly as that sounds but there is so much that goes into them and understanding the cause and effect.

We adjust toe to positive .4-.5°. That seems unusual but it’s what steer smart recommends when installing their tie rod. So far we’ve had terrific luck. If you haven’t already it’s always a good idea to check the torque on everything when having these issues

I know this is an old post, but just installed the steersmart and it says:
The Recommended Alignment to limit Death Wobble is 1⁄4” (0.51°) Toe-Out
Isn't that negative toe vs. your positive suggestion? Just checking in as I'm not having improved performance, but bunch of other things done at the same time.

From what I've read toe-out usually makes the vehicle wander but also allows for quicker turn-in (which doesn't really matter on a JL). You might not get death wobble, but you also might not have had it anyway. I would start with a more traditional alignment

now you have me second guessing myself. I just use my alignment machine and it it’s set for positive is green and I set between .3-.5 now. I’ve watched the wheels go wider when doing this but I see what you’re saying too.
