Update on 1/23/19: Right rear wheel speed sensor is the culprit. Apparently my faulty main battery was unrelated to the error codes getting thrown. And it masked the issue with the intermittent wheel speed sensor.

--------------------------------------

Update on 1/21/19: all three error lights have returned. Apparently the faulty battery isn't the problem. Back to the shop it goes.

--------------------------------------

Update on 1/15/19: All of the error messages I was getting below are a result of the main battery being bad. Dealer replaced it under warranty.

--------------------------------------

So.

31k miles on my JLUR.

Yesterday on the highway I randomly got three dash lights to chime all at the same time. ABS, Traction control, and 4WD SERV.

And a ton of notifications accordingly. IE: Service ABS, service 4wd system, etc. Even cruise control won't work while they are lit.

Those lights stayed on for the hour home. In the morning, they were all gone. While driving out to the snow today they all three fired back on. Then back off 30 minutes later. Then, SURPRISE, they all are back on.

I am going to schedule a service appointment tomorrow - but any idea what it could be?

The only thing I can think of is a wheel speed sensor. I checked all 4 of mine and they are all plugged in and appear to be not damaged.

Sounds like a wheel speed sensor is in need of replacement.have you made any mods to the jeep?

Also, check battery cables. I had this happen on my JK where my negative battery terminal was not tight after installing my CB and it started doing exactly what you said. Tightened it back up and there were no problems after that.

Dealership called and stated they believe the cause of all the errors is that the main battery is shorted out and needs to be replaced.

They are swapping it under warranty.

I have done a little testing on the battery before I took it to the dealer, terminals were all good. It was reading a little low, I just assumed this was from my dashcam pulling juice while it was parked. But come to find out the battery itself was actually shot.

National backorder on the OEM battery, so the dealer is throwing an aftermarket similar battery in it for me.

As of yesterday all three error lights have all fired back on.

Apparently it isn't the faulty battery that's causing my issues.

Back to the shop it goes.

I just had the same errors appear this evening. I already had an appointment for this Friday for something else so I will have them check this too. Just curious if it is safe to drive with these messages. We are expecting a really bad snow storm tonight that will last a couple of days and I have a long commute to work. I will likely need 4WD, ABS, & Stability Control tomorrow.

ABS tends to be terrible in snow, so just pump you brakes and hold on for dear life if you need to brake in snow.

Traction seemed to be stuck on, it wouldn't let me disable it. But either way, 4L will disable traction and stability automatically, despite the error lights.

I was still able to shift into 4H and 4L just fine regardless of the lights. They will likely suspect a wheel speed sensor and swap it. My dealer had to order mine, which took a day

Thank your for the feedback! I wanted to make sure it was safe for the Jeep to be put into 4WD when it says I need to service it. I didn’t want to damage the system. I also wanted to know if the ABS and Stbility Control were disabled with the active warning so I knew what to expect while I drove. Sounds like it all still worked for you so that is good to know.

As it turned out the warnings disappeared when I started the Jeep this morning. I’m sure they will return so I will have it checked out on Friday.

They will be logged and accessible to your dealer regardless if they remain lit. Snap a video or picture when they are lit as well.

wow it's always scary when you come online to search for a problem and you end up finding lots of other people with the same issue.
This is my second Jeep Wrangler.
I had a 2014 JKU Polar Edition.
I traded that in and used the equity I had in it to help my wife get a new car, and I decided to treat myself to a brand new 2018 JLU Rubicon...fully loaded with the exception of maybe the engine block heater.
That makes this damn near a $60,000 Jeep from the dealer.
And you mean to tell me that in the three months I've had it...that having everything from uconnect radio problems to now the same ABS, traction control, 4WD service problems that everyone is reporting, is business as usual????!!!!
I now have a Jeep doing the same things as others, with dealerships telling me "bring it in we will take a look, who knows?". So the city streets of Seattle were too much for Jeep???? How am I seriously supposed to consider taking this thing off-road?
Can someone at Jeep corporate or a dealership please explain to me the business model which alienates your customer base... A customer base, might I add, that has kept Jeep alive for well over 60 years.
And the response we get is engineering incompetence, backordered parts, and people not actually being able to use the very expensive purpose-built vehicles they purchased?
Jeep and the dealership should hang their heads in shame for ruining such a legacy.
It's time that both Jeep corporate and the dealerships step up and start taking some accountability.... And start acting more professional to go above and beyond the normal ridiculous service routine and make their flagship vehicles (any Wrangler, but especially Rubicons) what they should be.

You are very dramatic. You should join a Romeo & Juliet play or something.

A few people having a wheel speed sensor die off isn't "everyone" as you claim.

O2 sensor was replaced. Harness too from rear to front. Picked up my 19 JLU last night.
This morning 1/2 mile out the drive and ESS and Stability Control errors come on.
Really? Where is the rear wheel sensor?

Wheel speed sensors are on each wheel hub.

You can inspect to see if there is any damage to the wire. But they do just stop working from time to time
