Trying to do my first Jeep mod. Can anyone offer suggestions what I should do.
I have a 19 Sahara with 18 rims.

My first Jeep so a bit lost.
I think the first thing you should think about before you go any further is what would you like to use the Jeep for?

Overlanding?
Light trails/beach?
Rock crawling/hardcore trails?

What will be your percentage of off-road vs highway?

Is it your primary mode of transportation or your second “play” vehicle?

If you answer some of those questions we have a better picture of what way you should go.

I have two cars. My other is a sports car. Probably the Jeep will be my main car. I plan to use the Jeep on normal driving conditions. But with the right group, I would like to go offloading

I do not want to lose ride quality.

So what I’m about to say is highly controversial in the Jeep universe and is just my opinion, however, my opinion is that if you’d like to maintain ride quality and don’t plan on going crazy off-road then I suggest you hold off on a lift unless you have thousands to do it the right way. At least that’s what I’m doing.

There is so much more to a lift than just slapping new shocks/springs/bump stops in my opinion. Your suspension as a whole is all connected in one way or another. By just slapping on the above mentioned items there are still plenty of OE parts that will be getting stressed that haven’t been upgraded. This is one of the chief causes for decreased drivability for a lot of folks, again, in my opinion.

For you, I would personally start out with a new set of beefier tires and maybe some new wheels unless you like the ones you have. At that point, that buys you plenty of time to save up for a proper suspension and will increase your off-road stability for the time being. A better set of all-terrains can make the world of difference in sand (beach)/mud (trails). Remember, your Jeep is already plenty capable!

Once the tread wears thin and you’ve had time to think/save you might then wish to upgrade to bigger tires (35’s) and a lift/other misc suspension related upgrades.

While you’re in the interim, you could purchase a few lighting mods such as a light bar and misc interior items such as seat covers/grab handles/Mopar or any tailgate table/Molle bags. You could also add the Aux switches/tow hitch (if you didn’t get the tow pkg).

I saw a pretty Granite Crystal JLU Sahara yesterday morning at the stop sign at Winter Springs Blvd & Northern Way turning left on Northern. A lady was driving & had a male passenger. I was the guy in the Granite Crystal 2-door JL waving may ass off!! Lol!
If you've found us on this forum, I just wanted to say howdy! :jk:

Hi all, im down in Tampa with a White Jeep Sport S with the 2.0 and 8 SPD. Pretty much stock minus changing out the front bumper in preparation for a winch. (Couple pictures 5 days after i got her but before the new bumper)

To jump into the latest discussion above, if your intent is to go offroading with a group I would recommend holding off on any sort of suspension mods for now. You especially want to avoid buying new wheels and tires before the lift because the size you buy will be reliant on your stock setup and really anything above 33 won't perform well with stock gearing. In my experience its been better to just save and buy it together. Like those above me have said just save your money and do it right. I would personally buy recovery gear first. Things like: kinetic cables, tow straps, and a winch if you can afford it. A good set of recovery gear will allow those around you to take care of you while you learn more about your Jeep as you start to go on trails and inevitably get it stuck. :)

The seat covers mentioned above are a solid suggestion, especially if you plan to do any offroading with the doors off. I don't personally agree with the light bar as an initial mod but to each their own. Finally, as stated above, build the Jeep to the type of on/offroad experience you want. Its going to be a give and take between comfort and offroad performance so just take your time.

So excited! Picking up my factory ordered JLUR tomorrow at the dealer.

Owned first a 1980 CJ7 Renegade, then a 2010 JK, 2012 JKU, most recently a 2015 JKU and 1995 YJ which I sold to pay for the JLUR. Can’t wait! Will post first pic!

Not a great first pic, but the first pic nonetheless. Will get better ones tomorrow as it got dark quick. But a nice back country break-in drive tonight!
