I am not sure if a dealer will install unless you buy the parts from them. Most of them will not order the parts for you though. The install is very easy to do, there are plenty of videos out there. The radio swap takes about 10 minutes to do.Just ordered mine online. GOing from 5" to 8.4"
Well hopefully you didn't have to give up on the 45 second boot up time, radio coming on at startup instead of last used media, blue tooth dropping out and of course (my favorite) random resetting of the audio system with a loud pop! Hopefully all these features carry though with the 8.4Did the upgrade today, very easy install. Wiring for the LTE antenna was the toughest part and I am not sure how valuable it is to have that.

I'm joking of course, but I finally have to come to the conclusion the 5" does suck.
From where I ordered it, whole sale mopar parts it is brand new a unlock code is not needed.
I have not brought it in to the dealer yet to flash but they will have no issues doing this. I am in no rush as the 8.4" i ordered was produced in April of 2019 so I do not think there is an update as of yet.

They have no idea, they cant order the part for you because it technically doesnt come up for your VIN. That would be interesting but I would suspect that alpine will have a different connection to the wiring harness. I see that the current radio is by Panasonic.
They made this specifically for the JL. Supposed to be released this summer. They have to connections figured out.
That's awesome! Had I had known, i might have waited to see if factory prices drop. If my 8.4 upgrade ever fails/brakes then I'd probably try aftermarket and at that point probably swear by them with this actually being my first factory upgrade. Radios have came a long way since the last car owned 2003 with a 6"ish JVC aftermarket.
