Since my son is home from college this weekend, my plan was to play musical wheels between his 14 JKU and my new JLUR. I wanted to evaluate the JLUR with 35x12.5R17 mounted on my all-time favorite AEV Savegre wheels.

But I hit a snag! The center hole on the Savegres is smaller than the center hole in the stock wheels. The spare WILL NOT FIT over the camera protrusion!

See photos.

I’ll mount the other four and get on with my evaluation and report back to the forum. But for those of you looking to buy aftermarket wheels today, pay attention to that center hole diameter!

Thanks for letting us know! What is the minimum diameter necessary to fit over the camera protrusion?

That's unexpected. Are the stock wheels not hub centric?

Here is our new Sport with the 2.5in budget kit and 35in tires. I am ready for the 3.5in X-series kit and some 37s!

The camera “thing” appears to be exactly 2” in diameter, but gets larger at its base. The AEV center hole is about 3/32 smaller than that.

I’ll give you all some better measurements when I get back to it. My wife just wrecked my Chief!

Here’s mine with BFG 315/70/R17 installed. Having a helluva time finding a shop in houston who knows wtf they’re talking about to get lift installed. Any suggestions lemme know.

Thanks. Everybody's okay. There was no airbag deployment, but glasses flew off of faces!

Its going to be an expensive repair. I thought I’d just be paying a shop to paint a new hood, grille, and fender flare, and I’d bolt on a new bumper, radiator, oil cooler, fans, etc, but the welded front frame cross brace is caved in and down. There’s probably more damage in there. Sigh.

But hey, here’s how those 35x12.5R17 KO2’s on AEV Savegres look like on my JLUR, without the lift. I love the way it feels on the road. The larger tires make the un-lifted suspension feel slightly more stiff, if that makes sense to anyone.

The setback on those AEV wheels measures about 1.75” deeper than the stock wheels. I agree with JayV on using a wider stance to compensate for the higher CG. So I plan to put 1.5” spacers in there to approximate the look and feel of the AEVs. BTW, that’s exactly what I have on the Chief. It has the Mopar 2” lift with those 1.5” spacers behind stock wheels and 285/75/R17 KM2s. It felt great on- and off-road.

The black trim around the fenders opens up the wheel wells and make them look less full vs the JK's completely painted fenders (which we are use to seeing). Also you've got to think that a Sahara or sport won't look as high without the rubicon fenders. 35's will look totally different with th Mopar 2" lift on a Sahara I bet.

And here she is! It rides smoother than it did with the 35s and stock suspension. I'm just thrilled! I hit the highway briefly for a very short stretch, hitting about 70mph. There was no shimmy, no shake, and it was rock solid. Now I'm letting some air out of the tires. I'm at 34lbs now, and will go to 32 for the chalk test. I couldn't be happier. Here is before and after, at the dealership...

After....

Now it needs a wash!
What size lift did you have installed?
