A little background... I have a GM family member and get the GM discount, so ive purchased 3 brand new vehicles over the last few years(due in large part to the discount). 2016 Colorado, 2016 Suburban, 2017 Cruze. I traded in the Cruze for my '18 JLUR. The Onstar app which has all the same functions as the Uconnect app has always worked as it should. The Uconnect app fails to lock, unlock, remote start or find vehicle nearly all of the time. Every time there is an update to Uconnect, i think "hopefully they fixed it" only to be let down again. Ive called Uconnect customer service 4-5 times. Each time i go through the same process..."we just need to reestablish connection to the vehicle"... which includes standing outside the vehicle, locking with FOB, wait for them to remote lock/remote start, then me using app to do the same. Every time it works immediately after they "work their magic", but the next day its back to not working again.

What is Uconnect failing at, that Onstar has been so simple & reliable at for 3+ years?
Why is the Uconnect app SO SLOW compared to Onstar?
Will this "system" fail if im ever in an accident, since it doesnt even work normally now?
For a $50k vehicle am i expecting too much for an App integrated into the vehicle to work properly?
Are the Uconnect designers even aware of their abysmal failure? Are they working on it?

Anyone have a similar problem and gotten it resolved?

I had it for the first year for free when I bought my vehicle, but let it lapse after the end of the year. It never worked on my iPad (customer support said it didn't support the iPad), and it rarely worked on my iPhone. Now that itā€™s lapsed they send me e-mails and snail mails with offers to steeply discount it for a 6 month subscription. I donā€™t think Iā€™m particularly inclined to renew until the figure out how to make it work.

Same here, it hasnā€™t worked for me since October and I have called and talked with them several times. On star works great and has for years! I always renew with them but will definitely not keep u connect!

I dont think its something as simple as Apple vs Android. Mine fails to work most of the time even when using the www.mopar.com website. My first thought when the app didnt work was to just use the Mopar website... while inconvenient, it should have been a simple work around to the app...still a "no go" trying that route. I will find a friend/family with an Iphone and give that a try, but i dont have high hopes. Cellular coverage for Sprint, ATT & verizon are all Very good(strong 4g signal) where im at(where jeep is parked) so it should not be a "communication signal strength" failure.

Im inclined to think that its a firmware issue in the jeep itself. I see plenty of reports for other makes/models using Uconnect app with no issues at all.

I was shocked to hear that Jeep/uconnect charges for this "feature" after 1 year... Basic Onstar(includes lock/unlock/remote start/etc through the app) is free for 5yrs. NO ONE is going to pay for this since it doesnt even work to begin with!

Darmano, can you elaborate on what options you have?
I have the 8.4 in my JLUR using Samsung Galaxy S8+ and mopar.com with nearly constant failures.

Iā€™m having the exact same problems. I just posted about. For all the money I spent, I would think something like this should just work. I sell GM along with CDJR and have never had an issue with Onstar. Itā€™s like this guardian system was just thrown together. Even they can use the remote features on my Jeep.

With GM and Onstar you get the remote control functions free. But lose the safety features after the free trial. The OnStar app has always worked on my GM vehicles. With uConnect it doesn't work at times and when it does work it takes a couple of minutes for the Jeep to respond after sending a command. The GM vehicles respond within a few seconds. I let my Guardian services expire when my trial ended.

I recently bought a 2019 Jeep Grand Cherokee and have been having these UConnect remote access features stop working after the vehicles sits for about 24 hours or more. All attempts to lock/unlock, start/stop, locate, or even get the vehicle health reports stop working from both the app and Mopar website. Its currently in the dealership again, pending more research from Chrysler with a case opened with them, however, digging through a Ram forum page I was able to find this that directly relates to the issues we're all having and it sounds somewhat promising as of today that a fix will be on the way as the vehicle computers/software itself are having the issues...

I have a s8+ verizon and uconnect works every time, its just very slow.
thanks... but its not a question of cell carrier(spring, att or verizon). There is something else wrong... firmware probably, since it wont work on the Mopar website either.

Sorry to hear about your challenges. Was unable to pick up my new 2019 Jeep Wrangler until April 8, 2019, although the vehicle was manufactured on February 19, 2019. Noticed that some interior lights were not working properly on the evening after picking up my new Jeep. Returned to the dealership the next day, and they advised me that Uconnect software had to be updated along with a new dimmer/headlight switch relay that had shorted out and was not functioning normally. The software update immediately corrected my malfunctioning lights and the new light switch relay was installed a few days afterwards which corrected whatever problems I originally had. All my electronics on my vehicle, along with the Uconnect and Mopar apps on my iPhone function normally. My Jeep is indeed communicating with Uconnect and Mopar. Had my first oil change around 2,850 miles, and the Uconnect software was updated once again. When is the last time you had your dealership update your Uconnect software to ensure everything is functioning properly?

Jeep cares escalated my problem up the food chain. About a month ago dealership replaced the Head unit(which took 4 weeks to get), updated everything and so on.... Problem still persists. Im done wasting my time with it and have not pursued it further.

Even though I've had my share of problems even with a German luxury SUV, I persisted while they covered everything under warranty. Eventually, it did get fully repaired, even though it was extremely frustrating for me while the problem(s) persisted. As long as your vehicle is under warranty, and you can afford to leave it with your dealership (hopefully with a loaner given to you), I would persist as long as FCA is a willing partner to resolve your issue. Truly, my entire Uconnect system (Sirius, phone, Navigation, etc.) operates flawlessly. Good luck.

They want you to pay $19.95 per month to keep the Guardian services after your free trial. The app doesn't work 25% of the time and when it does it takes forever for the Wrangler to respond when you use it to remote start or lock/unlock the doors. You'd think they would want to fix the issues ASAP so more people would keep the Guardian services.
