Today I removed my soft top fully so I could put on the hard top for the fall/winter. As I was trying to get the large hinge out of the bracket on the rear roll bar I was lifting and must have bumped the swing while it was in the locked position. It uncoiled and snapped/rotated extremely fast and smashed the heck out of my finger. It will not go back into the locked position now. I'm afraid when I go to put it back on it will not be able to be put back in the bracket. The passenger side started to uncoil but I was able to catch it and got it back into the locked position. All I was doing was trying to lift it straight up. This doesnt seem normal.

The first picture I uploaded shows that the switch is in the locked position but the hinge is rotated and the hydrolic is on the opposite end. The second picture shows the passenger side which is still showing locked and the hydrolic on the opposite end.

Can this part be warrantied or changed out or will the whole top have to be replaced?

Hey there,

I will see what i can find out from our OEM side, however the final decision really rests on what the dealer says.

I will post when i hear something back :)

Did this ever get resolved. I tried to install my sunrider yesterday and found my left rear hinge in the exact some condition. I'm heading to my dealer on Sat to get their opinion but it would be great if I could correct this problem. I don't know how it happened. Nothing uncoiled that I can recall. I've never had a problem before

I need to get my soft top out of storage and take it to the dealership to see what they say. I was able to rotate mine around but it would never lock and stay in position. Hopefully it'll be an easy fix.

Did he strong arm it and lock it/fix it before putting it on the Jeep?

I had it in the back and he just looked at it and did what a chiropractor would do. It worked fine after that. I took it home and mounted it without any problem.

I didn't have the uncoupling scenario you mentioned. I'm actually not sure how it happened so I'll be double careful next fall when I take it off
