Grew frustrated with the technology incompatibility between my Escort Max360c 2.4 GHz and the Uconnect 5GHz Wi-Fi. Bought the TP-Link AC750 Wireless Wi-Fi Travel Router TL -WR902AC - https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01N5RCZQH/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Plug it in to the center console USB, switch to hotspot mode and followed the connection procedure. Works great and now able to pair the Max360c to the Uconnect WiFi for real time updates without using my phone. A bit of a hack, but nice knowing there are options if you have devices that are 2.4 WiFi only.

Shannon, thank you. I just got my Max360c yesterday and found out that it only support 2.4 GHz. I was about to return it, then saw this. Never even thought of doing this. Great work around!!

Same for me in trying to update my firmware/database on the new Cobra Road Scout Radar detector. After spending 2 days troubleshooting myself, on the phone with Cobra & AT&T, finally figured out the root cause is the radar detector only connects to 2.4ghz and the AT&T Unconnected 8.4 Premium WiFi only provides 5Ghz through AT&T myvehicle/FCA. Seems like both companies would provide both frequencies since it’s very common technology, but neither do. C’mon man!

Anyway, used a different hotspot device with 2.4ghz and it found the device and took the password. I then connected and installed the updates with no problems.

Note: You don’t even need the built in Uconnect car WIFI. Use the mobile hotspot to WIFI connect to your phone, then use your phone to connect to the radar detector through the IRadar app. In the IRadar app use setting, then choose WIFI to find the Hotspot. Type in the password and connect.
Just make sure you are using a 2.4ghz hotspot device and it works.

The bad thing is you can’t get real time updates through AT&T 5Ghz vehicle radio and have to use a separate 2.4ghz hotspot to get the updates. Not cool! Doable, but by no means ideal.
