I haven’t read that anywhere. In fact, everything that I have read says that it started out using the Ranger platform to build on. The “baby bronco” as everyone seems to be calling it is supposed to be unibody. Look again at the shadow picture with baby in the front and daddy’s shadow behind. The shadow looks just like the one under the sheet.
I read that from one of the two links that was initially posted on this forum.

Ford has been teasing an all electric mustang inspired SUV.....what if that and Bronco is one and the same?!

Very interesting.

I had already seen that the Bronco will go to production November 2020 and hit show rooms Q1 2021, and that it will have the 2.7L EcoBust engine, rather than the 2.3L used in the Ranger, and that the doors will be stowable in the vehicle. But the fact that the roof IS removeable is a huge confirmation because it officially makes the Bronco a strong contender against Wrangler.

Allegedly, the truly new Ranger is going to be based on the same platform as Bronco, so there will be a brand new pickup offered around the same time, which of course is just one year after Gladiator hits showrooms. And there'll be a Raptor variant at that time. That'll be interesting.
Where did you get your news that there will be a Raptor version of the Ranger? Doug Demuro said in his review of the Ranger that Ford has said they do not plan to make a Ranger Raptor. This seems like an idiotic decision based on the fact that F150 Raptors sell above asking price, as soon as they hit dealers' lots. Seems like they are inevitably going to make a Ranger one eventually, just surprised if it's been formally announced yet.

They will not be making a Raptor Ranger for the current generation Ranger, but the current gen Ranger was developed overseas and has been on sale for years. The all new Ranger which is being built on the same platform as the new Bronco will be out in 2021 and they said a Raptor Ranger version is planned for the U.S.

Basically the current Ranger dosen't have enough space in the engine bay for a motor that American's would be happy with and the new one will.

An employee at Ford who posted on the forum because he said he was "tired of all the misinformation being spread" about the new Bronco and Ranger.

He obviously did so anonymously and didn't get too far into the details for fear of his job, but he did state that the vehicle under the sheet is the "baby Bronco", and that the actual Bronco hasn't been shown at all yet (it since has, to a group of dealers this past week). And he clarified that the Bronco is on an all new frame and platform, which the Ranger will also share with it. At that point, they will go to the 2.7L engine and it will allow for the Raptor variant to be sold in the U.S. He's the one who told us that the production schedule currently shows Q4 2020, for Bronco to be in showrooms Q1 2021 as a 2021 model.

It wont be a competitor to any jeep fans because it wont be solid axle and no manual option but for the toyota 4runner crowd it might be an option

I think you over estimate how many people care about SFA. 90% of Wrangler owners will never do anything that requires as SFA. All the mall crawlers that keep the brand alive and make up for a large % of sales don't care about SFA. If they have their choice of a convertible Bronco with IFS that drives nicer and a Wrangler that drives worst which will they choose?

+1 Yep here is the info cross posted:

There are a lot of misconceptions and silly false truths regarding the Bronco, let's put those to rest.
  • Program Code: U725
  • Job 1 Date is December 2020
  • 2021 Model Year
  • V6, 2.3L Ecoboost
  • 10-Speed Automatic, Getrag Manual
  • FAA/AA1 was reached several months ago, meaning final exterior design was settled on.
  • FDJ/PA was completed by November 2018, meaning final design was frozen for production and now prod. grade in execution.
  • April 2019 are when the first VP1s come off pilot plan, meaning spy shots are coming by May.
  • Launch date is January 2021, possibly Feb 2021
  • Development began in 2015
  • New T6 basis, being developed in Australia. U725 Bronco top-hat in Dearborn, MI
I am not sure what has been going on with these absurd "news" reports from lazy and obtuse writers, but it is obvious the next F-150 will launch before the Bronco due in January 2021. Off-Road magazine was actually referring to the facelift P558 Super Duty, which will be unveiled soon for MY 2020. That will be replaced by MY 2023 with P708.

The next Ranger (P703), not the latest P375N will use the frame of the new Bronco, in some 33-36 months. The P703 launch is tenative for late 2021-22. That will offer the Ranger Raptor for USDM, the P375N was not developed with the Raptor in mind. P703 will be.

What I do know is, a reveal cannot be more than 18 months before market launch in January 2021. You'll not be seeing it without camouflage until next year, but you will start seeing them test soon. (Ditto for P702 F-Series)

The Bronco as of August 2016, had a scheduled start of production date of July 1, 2020. At that time, the P375N had a November 1, 2018 production date. At the 2017 NAIAS press conference, it was highlighted production of the USDM Ranger would begin in late 2018 for introduction "in 2019" and Bronco "in 2020".

Verification prototypes will be completed in April at the pilot plant, but currently U725 parts for prototyping are being procured.

In the end, the 2019.5 Ranger was on time with everything. Sadly the U725 is not on time and so far, about 5 months behind schedule. Production is due to begin in Wayne Michigan, in December 2020. Units will arrive at Ford showrooms starting in January 2021. Launch can reach up to February 2021. Originally launch was supposed to be around Labor Day 2020, after SOP around July 1, 2020. That will not happen anymore, but styling is finally done and no more changes as of November.

No competition if it looks even remotely like the spy shots. Looks like a weird Ranger.

Gotta admit that the 10 speed transmission sounds great though!

The quote from the "Ford employee" looks legit but it says the Bronco engine will be the 2.3 EB but the dealer reveal states that it is the 2.7 EB right? The dealer meeting notes on the second link of the original post say that the Bronco will have front and rear solid axles.

As far as solid axles go...someone needs to tell all of those assclowns that run KOH with IFS and even a good number of 4 wheel independent rigs that their trucks suck. But wait they have won KOH more than a few times. Also the idiots who designed the MRAP for Uncle Sam tell them that they need to stick to the malls. And everyone knows that the HMMWV was a total off road failure.

Materials and engineering techniques are now at a place where IFS and 4 wheel IS are viable products in the market.

As stated before the real bronco has not been spotted out testing yet.

Thats just a mixed bag of Ranger parts and covers put on to cover the frame. They are road testing the lower half and it will look nothing like that.

I think Ford would be silly to build it with a SFA. The majority of wrangler owners don’t even care about that and the rock crawler market isn’t likely big enough where Ford would even see a benefit in catering to them directly. If it’s cheaper to manufacture SFA, sure it makes sense. From a market share perspective I don’t think they’d see much of a difference to warrant it. Will be interesting to see how this plays out!
