Reading comprehension fail... thread is for SPORT models with rubicon shocks / firmer springs.

Rubicon owners have the whole forum to stroke each other....:punch:

Having a Rubicon does not require a reading comprehension exam.... but maybe it should.
If the department of motor vehicles tested for it, a lot of people would not be allowed to drive. Imagine how much safer the roads...

I don't understand.
Why would the 33' tires rub on control arm on a sport with rubi suspensions?
Other than the lower fender flare there should be no difference between a sport and rubicon.
Where did I say that 33s rub on the control arms? I said 35's do. The rubi axles are wider. There is alot of good info if you use the search function on this site.

Ok I must have read it wrong, I saw "Rubi suspension and 33's" under the picture of tire rubbing on control arm and assumed that was what you were referring to. Question remains why would 35's rub on control arm if Jeep claims that Rubis can fit 35's stock, what does Rubicon have that is different from a sport other than then the higher fender flares.

:headbang: The rubi axles are 1.5" wider

Ideally to get to that 1.5” wider track, you would put .75” spacers on either side and alas, things would work just the same.
However, no one has found it vital to make 3/4” spacers for the JL. So guys with sports can : buy new wheels and get correct offset, get ticketed for running 1.5” spacers and sticking way out past the fenders, or add washers to the steering stops and lose about 14% of overall steering radius.

Now- guess which one I’m gonna do since I’m not made of $$ , hence the reason for the Sport over Rubi in the first place!!

I don’t think that’s the law every where but I’d be curious if one of our police friends could chime in on the subject.

I believe in Ohio, for instance, you can have a certain amount sticking out. Not only have I not had an issue with having 12” tires (on new wheels with correct offset), I heard “that’s the perfect offset [distance sticking out fender]!” My assumption during that conversation was both in looks and law based on who I was speaking to at the time ;)

Here's my sport on 32's, since we're swaying from original topic.

Nice, love the JL Sports with 35’s. Been keeping a keen interest in this thread. Aussie spec JL Rubicon only has Sport fenders & 32 inch tyres stock (which sucks for a rubi) but the rest is rubicon - dana 44’s, slightly higher springs, rocktrack etc. Hoping to see some more Sports on here with 35’s, it looks like the perfect tyre and really suits the stock fenders. We only have Sahara’s here, no sports or rubi’s to July/August.
