Go to the Alienshade vendor page and watch the video. I did not "drop the windshield" but I did remove the 4 bolts and pulled it out a bit. Had wife hold it in place while I ran the bungees.
It's super easy 4 bolts use the included tool kit and like @CypressWrangler said have someone hold windshield so you don't have to remove windshield wipers if no help then use included socket in tool kit and pull wipers it is really user friendly.
At the end of last year I was working on some connector clips and use the included shade anchors (spiderweb), and shorten the bungee cords to take the added clip length out allowing for removel with no tools from the front windshield.
I left the windshield in its upright position and the sunshade install went very smoothly and quickly. You can feel the metal edge with your finger tips to position the plastic clip properly and securely.
The provided plastic tool also help when installing the 2 rear/center bungee cords. I used the said to easily slip the bungees over the top of the sound bar.
There's a video of a pretty young lady installing it without moving the windshield but I was so distracted looking at her I can't be sure if she really got it attached.
I installed mine without dropping the windshield. The plastic pull tool will help to install there, and with the hard top installed. once you locate the bolts for the windshield it's a very simple install. you can feel the metal that the clip needs to slide into, and just take your time.
I installed without dropping the windshield, but after a month the clip worn out and deform, it detached suddenly from the upper windsheild. The plastic hook is not strong enough for the rubber to hold for a longer period specially when the weather is so hot.
Well all I can say is don't let go of the little clips when using the tool. The first one slipped right out of my fingers and could not recover it without unbolting the window and tilting it a bit. The bolts were easy to remove. Didn't bother removing the wipers. Just a slight tilt and the install was simple. Going to have to think about a time frame to replace the chords though. I am guessing a few years of use and they will oxidize and either loosen and cause sag or one will snap and one of those darn plastic balls will smack me in the head. Anyone know how long they last?
