Update

My 2019 JLUR was taken to the dealership this morning to have the gauge cluster issue diagnosed. (by coincidence, at 14 degrees F. this morning, the issue reappeared and then resolved itself with in 0.2 miles).

I was told that there is now a service bulletin on the issue. This mentioned that the issue is related to cold weather.

The gauge cluster will be replaced under warranty; the down side is that the Jeep must remain at the dealership when the new unit is ordered. I was told that is required because the odometer mileage on the gauge cluster unit must match the odometer mileage held by the main computer.

When the new part is ordered, the dealership must include the current mileage with the order so that the new unit may be correctly set with the current mileage. To do otherwise risks voiding the warranty and I suspect a few state laws on odometer settings. Apparently a dealership can not set the mileage on the unit themselves.

I have scheduled an appointment to start this process 11 days from now.

The upside... the dealership will provide me with a loaner for the duration.
Good luck!!

I have the same intermittent problem with my dash cluster on cold mornings but my dealership says they don't know of a TSB.
Do you have the #
Thanks

Dash Cluster Malfunction Update; from tntsJL, posted Tuesday 2/26/19: Took my Rubicon to the dealer this morning and I am very pleased with the Dealerships response to my display problem. I gave them 7 pages of forum posts from this thread, and also showed them videos of the problem. They performed a scan and didn't find any problems but the service tech found a Star Online Publication, release date 2/26/19, discussing the problem. The recommended final cure is replacement of the IPC, (Dash Cluster). The Dash Cluster has been ordered and they will schedule the repair as soon as the cluster is received. Very easy resolution of my concerns and with none of the hassles that I was expecting. And I am still driving the Jeep.

My Jeep has been doing the same thing all morning. Driving me crazy. Took several videos of it but can’t seem to upload them. @JeepCares

Take the videos to the dealership. They will need to order and replace the Dashboard Cluster.

My temporary 'fix' for the issue is as follows:

Set heater to highest setting; set control to front defrost; close the 4 vents in the dash; it takes 3 to 5 minutes for the cluster to begin operating correctly, (it was closer to 8 minutes at 7 degrees F. this morning).

Hi everyone,
Recently there was a Technical Service Bulletin (TSB) that appears to address concerns similar to the symptoms that you are having with your vehicles. To ensure this TSB applies, we would like to get you back into the dealer to have a qualified technician review the details of the TSB and specifics of your vehicles. Once reviewed, the technician can then perform the repair procedure that best matches the symptoms and diagnosis of your vehicle. Please send us a private message if you would like any additional assistance with this process.

It would be interesting to get a handle on how many people actually have this problem. I suspect that Jeeps in the sunny climes or Jeeps that are garaged have a gauge cluster that is flawed, but do not know it because of the temperatures above freezing.

My 2019 JLUR was dropped off at the dealership on 3/11/2019 (just turned over 4,000 miles); the only up side is that the dealership provided me with a 2019 Jeep Compass while my Rubicon sits. (The Compass is not my style, and I have decided I really dislike ESS; which apparently can not be turned off in the Compass). No complaints about the dealership.. they are stuck with the issue too.

I had that thought myself . . . I'm hoping that my cluster gets replaced before it gets warm out because then I wouldn't know 100% if it is fixed or not.

It's definitely something Jeep needs to figure out and fix sooner rather than later. Glad it is working out for you with your service center and got a loaner.

My cluster was replaced for this issue way before the bulletin came out. Have not had any issues since the replacement. Good luck all!!

update (3/15/2019)

I had the dealership on 3/14/2019 check for the scheduled arrival of the replacement part, their systems show that it was on schedule to arrive today. When UPS did not have the dash cluster board, they went back in their system and now found a scheduled arrival date of 4/1/2019. This is unacceptable to them, and obviously unacceptable to me.

The dealership service manager is contacting their factory rep; the service manager gave me the 800 number for customer care, plus the information I needed for starting a ticket with customer care. Customer care expects to call me back sometime on 3/18/2019 with the status of the ticket.

As the service manager pointed out; the plant has to have these boards on the line or else the entire line would be shut down; it should not take 3 weeks for a dealership to get a new board.

Mine was suppose to show up yesterday. Pushed back again until 3/29. Mines been at my dealer since the last week of January. Only have 83 miles on mine. I'm hoping this is the last ETA. Been told twice now different dates. It's very frustrating @BCH

In PA your vehicle would now fall under the state lemon law..

"Also, if your car is at the dealership for any repairs for a cumulative total of thirty days during the first 12 months or 12,000 miles, you may demand a refund or replacement." https://www.attorneygeneral.gov/protect-yourself/consumer-advisories/automobile-lemon-law/

Someone at FCA needs to step up to the plate, as stated earlier it is obvious that the cluster gauge boards are available or the Jeep assembly line would be idle.

This does fall under safety as well.. a non functional speedometer is a safety issue; even for a short period of time.

If it was not for the question of what else might be wrong with the cluster gauge board, I am tempted to say, just give me my Rubicon back and I will deal with the issue in cold weather.
