Thought I'd update everyone on my adventure, and let me tell you. It was an adventure. First week with the new ride and already getting it dirty and in places we weren't meant to be.

The day started really well. Met my dad in Vacaville and head towards Berryessa to get to Knoxville. The road was great until we got just north of the lake, then you could tell it was not the county's priority, lots of pot holes and the like. Saw a couple of other people, we think hikers, but the road was mostly free of other traffic. There are several washes that intersect the road and there are posted signs that say impassible with high water. I would be cautious if you're planning on going up after it rains.

We entered Knoxville OHV from the lower entrance and didn't see much of the rest of the site. We did the little trail that I linked above. The trails were nice and mostly flat, very few rocks or debris in the way. Overall a very nice ride for a beginner or a family just looking to find a campsite. Photos are of the stock rig doing a little Flex, and Dad climbing on a really scenic rock, the picture doesn't do it justice, we mostly just took it to scare my mom who is afraid of heights.

However, since the trail was so short we decided to go exploring and this is where things got interesting. We headed to the one of the southern campgrounds when we saw a sign that read TOP with an arrow. So naturally we followed the arrow and it led us to some pretty awesome views over a valley, unfortunately we weren't taking many photos at this point.

Now, if you go to Knoxville, please make sure that you are on a trail. The road we followed to the TOP, lead us into private property. There were a couple of gates but they were all open and without signs and there were some recent tracks that must have gone through only a week or two ago, because they had huge mud tires and destroyed the trail. There were no private property signs, but we found out when we got a nice lecture from the owners who then made us wait for an hour at a locked gate to get out.

Here is a trail map that I wish I had with me. http://www.4x4trailmaps.com/Files/Maps/knoxville.pdf (in the lower center there is a closed to vehicles symbol. That is where we went.) Needless to say we will be planning our trips better next time. Google maps just showed a road but not property lines, so we were none the wiser on this trip.

All in all though we had a great time, got to "ford" some creeks, move some downed trees and enjoy a great day.
