Was in a store a few weeks ago and saw a sign posted for their delivery drivers. It basically said that if they were going to use their own GPS units, do not attach them to the windshield or they run the risk of being ticketed.

So, found a State Cop shooting radar along AZ-79 and stopped to ask him what gives. He confirmed that you can't legally affix anything to the windshield in Arizona unless it is in the lower left corner within a 5" square or lower right corner within a 7" square. You can mount your GPS on the dash (unless it is obviously restricting forward vision) or in front of the dash, but not on the windshield. Here's the applicable document that he shared with me:

Here's the URL for the top level list of transportation laws in Arizona:

He was really helpful with several other questions that I asked:

1) yes, you can have your fogs and brights on at the same time ... the law states one pair of auxiliary lights in addition to headlights. Said if he saw me on a back road with my spots on, he might stop me just to make sure I knew that legally I shouldn't, but he wouldn't ticket me. Said he does it with his personal vehicle when no one's around. Said the normal high beams just aren't enough with the deer and cattle we have on the roads.

2) yes, your tires can stick out from under the fenders.

3) no, if you raise your Jeep you don't need mudflaps. Only trucks (pickups included) need mudflaps ... that should be interesting with the Gladiator coming.
