I like your solution the most, but I would imagine the light output is a lot less compared to the rigids etc. How do you feel about these as a rear aux lighting option? Or are they more suitable as just a an upgrade to the reverse lights
I’ve got them spliced into my reverse lights. Extremely bright in my opinion. I didn’t have the tow package from the factory. So i don’t have the aux switches. But i think they would be quite justified as an aux light and awesome as backup lights!

Here is what I did. Looks factory to me. Super bright! No low hanging issues as with other lights. 1260 lumens each!

I like this look also. Did you drill into a steel bumper?

I've been reading so much my eyes hurt :). Which thread or post describes how to hook them staight to the backup without aux. Maybe I should look on my computer instead of the phone.

Looks awesome great job!

Looks good. I like the surface mount style. And, super cheap at etrailer ($16.85) and even available through Homedepot ($38.15) ...

Can you take a night time picture of the beam pattern/coverage? Thanks!

I’ll get a picture tonight and post the picture from outside and from the radio.

Would greatly appreciate a full write up of this!!

Give me a little while and I’ll work on the write up. It’s pretty east. Hardest part was the washers and nuts on the back of the bolts once mounted. Not a lot of room when I’ve got large fingers.

I just did the test light for the correct wire for the backup light and spliced into it. Works like a charm.

Finally got my Rigid Ignites hooked up. I followed @Rhinebeck01 instructions and several of you other Jeepers. Thank you

Man are they bright. I didn’t want them hanging down off the rear bumper so I mounted them on the spare tire carrier. Hooked up to Aux 3 and b/u wire (W/OG) on the 7 pin tow hook up. Used two diodes and it works great. Took most of the day, nothing else going on and I haven’t done automotive wiring since high school (that was a long time ago).

Here it is at night.

@Colorado Rubicon

Your picture is the poster child for why you want to mount the aux. backup lights down low versus up high.

Notice in that the back-up camera view/pic, there is no yellowing, no glare.. a clear clear view...

When you mount up high, you get glare, and the visual is just not the same as when you mount low.

Again this pic tells the tale so to speak:

Can someone confirm if I have the wiring understood correctly? Sorry for the crude diagram.

Aux Switch——[in]diode[out]————|
7-pin—————-—[in]diode[out]——————————————————>LED Aux Lights

*connect both [out] diode wires to each other and then to aux lights

Hopefully these pics will clarify what I’m asking and where my confusion is. Credit @Bilymac as these are his original pics that I marked up for clarification. I understand the theory of a diode but using two is confusing. I’ve also done a lot of reading on similar installs on JKs and people use relays instead of diodes or in addition to diodes. It’s all a bit confusing.

First diode, presumably from aux switch or some other cabin switch:

Second diode - unclear what each of these are to me:
