I have only found 1 thread on this. They have manual trans, I have 8spd auto. Mine is a 19 JLUR

https://www.jlwranglerforums.com/fo...t-low-rpm-1st-gear-uphill-manual-trans.10615/

The symptoms are the same. Light throttle or steady state cruise, getting a bucking / surge / bogging / pumping brake feeling. It could also be described as a straight strong head wind pushing on the front of the Jeep. The easiest way to tell for me is, 1-2* incline ( used off road pages for that info ) try and stay around 25 mph steady. It can't do it. Feels like someone is pumping the gas, or brake pedal. I have tried manual mode, no change. It does the same at rpms from 1300-4000 rpm.Any gear, did not try any higher rpm. Once you know what your feeling, its at any speed ( mph ) or gear. The only thing that seems to be consistent is the rpm 1300-4000 rpm, with light or steady speed.
I have an appointment soon. Hope they have live data stream to find out what's going on.

Anyone else feeling this?

Yep, mine does it as well. I have a manual though. Crappy oem tune. I test drove several JLs and they all did it. I think some people can detect it more than others. I think it is also more noticeable if you have a light foot.

Same here as well however mine only happens from 1500-2k rpm range. Higher than 2k the bucking stops.

I have noticed switching to a higher octane gas helped a little.

I’m debating throwing a pedal commander on mine and see if it helps, or at least masks some of these issues.

I have the same issue with mine since new. I really notice it first thing after I start it when backing out of garage in morning. I found something a while back about what sounds like the same issue. They noted TSB # 18-041-18. I have not had a chance to take it in yet to have it checked.

Brings back memories of my 1982 Camaro Z28. Shortly after getting it when you started out from a stop it would bog down and stumble. Only way to reliably start out was to floor it and then let up. Dealer tried to fix it even flying in a Chevy engineer from Detroit. They went so far as to put in a Corvette PROM but to no avail. They finally lemoned it and gave me a new Blazer. Dealer sales staff drove it until one of them totalled it.

Got it back from the dealer today.
Good news, they feel it and verified concern. Also felt on other JL's on the lot.
Bad news, no fix in STAR search.

Only thing "we" can do is bring in more 3.6L's with surging problems and get it documented. Hope for FCA to write new software to cure the problem.

Ok, I have shared this issue with you before. Stop playing PR games. There isn’t a thing a dealer can do to remedy this issue. It is a tuning issue. If you would like to help, please share this concern with FCA engineers. But I can guarantee they already know of it, and if they don’t, then we have bigger issues than I could imagine.

This is interesting. I've noticed a similar feeling. It is very subtle. Just cruising along in 4th-6th gear around town (auto). Feels like a faint stumble almost like a headwind (with no wind). I use the maunal feature to bump down a gear and bring the rpms up a touch. It's not a hunting for the right gear feeling, something else.

I have been experiencing the same issue. Mine is a 19 and only has a little over 1000 miles on it. I seem to notice it is at its worst when I am at highway speeds, haven't paid any attention to rev's. I don't like it though on my $56K + Wrangler.

Thank you Lydia for your response. I can guarantee your Social Care position was created through the PR department. The greatest help you and your department can do is provide feedback to appropriate leadership at FCA. Our forum is an ongoing, free of charge survey that FCA can access anytime. Although they will have to sort through some nonsense, there is a lot of good customer feedback on this forum.

I too have this on a manual transmission at off idle RPM. It's most noticable in 1st gear. I had a PCM update applied and could barely reproduce the problem afterwards. It was easily reproduced prior on flat ground. Afterwards it required a slight incline to reproduce. However, after 500 to 1000 miles, it's back to the way it was prior to the update. This makes me think part of the problem may be due to the learning algorithm.

This is no learning algorithm. This is a crappy tune. No ifs, ands or buts about it.
