Finally started my first set of mods on my 2019 Rubicon!
I told myself to wait until the weather gets warmer before I start anything on the Jeep. As most of you guys know, it is very difficult to not buy parts for your Jeep. I ended up caving in and bought the nerf side steps and hood light bar from Rough Country. As soon they arrived, I wasted no time installing them on my Jeep.
The nerf side steps were fairly easy to install with the help of jack stands. It didn't require any drilling and bolts into the existing holes. Overall, the installation took less than an hour to complete. I'm really loving the steps so far even though I'm still getting used to the fact that I have steps now. I keep forgetting that I have them so I still step over them when I get in/out. Eventually I'll step on them every time, especially after I do a lift.
I love lights. I had them all over my JK and probably will do the same with my JL. The hood light is actually my first time I installed a light on the hood. The kit from Rough Country comes with everything, including a mount and a wire harness with a switch and relay. The mount is attached behind the hood hinges, using the bolts that hold the hood. Since I already have aux switches, I ended up cutting off the switch and relay from the harness and spliced the wires to the aux switch wires next to the battery. It took about 2 hours from start to end. It could have been done in less time if I didn't keep changing my mind on how to route the wire next to the battery.
Here are pictures of how the light came out. Already looking forward to install more Rough Country lights in the near future.
