Yea plastic bumpers always look kind of meh. The JL Sahara I saw in person actually was not all that bad to be honest. It was not quite as "wow look at this huge chunk of plastic" like I thought it would be. The JK bumpers were awful IMO, just big plastic rectangular chunks of tupperware....but the JL is not as bad.Thank you. As i suspected, the steel bumper has a much better look. Less mustache and tougher looking.
I know. Duh.
I agree on this point. I'm preparing to order now and it just wasn't something that I wanted as an option. I'd rather add the cold weather group for the same price (yes, I live in TX, but I am from farther up north and may move back someday).Disagree for multiple reasons, a lot of us do not want the safety group in an off road vehicle. It's just another option that costs money and is something a lot of us do not care about. It's something else to potentially break, it might go nuts when an aftermarket bumper is applied, or it might cause a problem when offroading in 4-hi (it's disabled by default in 4-lo)
The steel rear bumper is now available from Mopar as well. Cheapest I have seen it is $745.You don't have to order the Jeep with the AST group. You can get the bumper from Mopar (minus the extensions) for 895. Quadratec offers it:

You'll still have the plastic rear bumper though, if that matter to you.
