I am installing a Smittybilt winch on my Jeep and would like to use a factor 55 splicer or flat link. My synthetic rope is already looped through a large hook.

What is the best/easiest way to remove this and properly secure one of the factor 55 parts?

I used a cut off wheel on my grinder. Placed it in a vice, covered the syn rope and made two cuts. Took about 30 seconds

Yeah it looks like that is the way to go, I will get one of our maintenance guys to use a band saw at work to help protect the rope - wasn’t sure if I could cut the hook but it makes sense now - just have to do it before the rope goes on. Thanks

Yup. That’s the only way unless you want to cut the rope and splice it back together. We love the factor 55 ultrahook but it was a shame wasting such a nice hook

I just undid mine using a Factor 55 video as a guide, then used their Fast Fid to attach the Splicer. You should keep a Fast Fid with your Jeep, anyway, in case you ever break or cut a rope.
