Just following up on mine... the new seat rail that was put in did fix the issue for me. No more popping.

Also thanks to @jforse post on the damage to his vehicle, I decided to tape mine up like this. HIGHLY recommend doing this. Even with me taping up the paint, which you would think is a huge clue that they should probably be extra careful since I will be checking... they still dinged the door sill area, luckily it was taped and only the tape ripped and the paint was not damaged, definitely saved me a headache of paint work.

I get it that it's probably an awkward maneuver to get the seat and rail out and in, but seems ridiculous they don't put a blanket down or something.

Just picked up my JLU from the dealership and their response was same as usual ā€œ this is normal ā€œ . Iā€™m really getting sick and tired of this just being a Jeep thing!!
Right there with you on that. Just took my Jeep in for third time. First 2 fixes seat quit moving for couple weeks and this time said same as other jeeps they check. If itā€™s normal then why does it quit moving for couple weeks and then do it again. Annoying for sure.

so mine started up again too, been a couple weeks since the new seat rail and now its popping again but different... before it would pop when braking/accelerating and you could feel it move, now its much more subtle and it only pops once when I first sit in the Jeep each time I get in, theres a small pop and then that's it, can't reproduce it after that until I get out for a while and get back in, not nearly as annoying as the first time around but something's up with all these seat rails

The service guys at my dealership laughed about @JeepCares last time I had a problem. No one ever contacted them.

You have to contact @JeepCares and get a case worker. The dealer doesn't. Did you ever contact them? Most service employees have no idea what they are doing. You need to control the conversation in a respectable manner to get anywhere. I see posts all over this site about people bitching and whining and threatening the employees at the dealership. They can only do so much and have to follow the rules they have. @JeepCares bypasses much of this red tape and works with you for a resolution. They addressed every issue I had and made the dealer take care of it. Without them the dealer would have done nothing.

I did contact @JeepCares and gave them all the required information and like I said no one followed up with me or the dealership. Iā€™m glad they handled all your problems.

I also would recommend following up with whoever is handling your case with Jeep Cares. They were able to help circumvent a lot of the dealership BS for me as well.

@JeepCares - Mine also has this "popping" noise to which my dealer as orders a new seat frame/rail set. It's been two weeks with no update from the dealer. As well my rear window defrost doesn't work as the solder point/wire is no longer attached as it has pulled (you can see the cold solder joint let go) to the window. Now that I read all this (about the 5 vrs 6 L of oil), is that my dealer charged me for 6, I questioned it..they said it was right, but I haven't checked the dip stick - Will when I return...
Las jeep was in the shop 14 times in 1.5 years so I gave up on it and got the JL....rethinking this entire scenario... :(

Hi Mjclay,

I can see our most recent message to you was on November 27, where we requested details so we could escalate a case for you. Unfortunately, we did not receive a response to our message. However, if you would like to reply and send that information now, we would still be happy to assist.

So how can jeep cares help if all people tell you is that seat moving is normal. After trying to fix it twice of course. Needs to be a recall to fix all seats definitely is a big problem. Tech at dealership said all Jeeps on lot had same problem. So guess that makes it ok. No means needs recall to fix them all.

Mine was passenger seat tracks, the sound went away but was getting louder and more annoying fast. Since I am sure nothing has changed I hope this isn't premature wear issues.

UPDATE: have not gone back to the dealer yet... as I mentioned my first pop was upon acceleration/deceleration and you could feel the seat really move, this is gone after the new seat rail

since then a new popping has developed that is caused by an up/down motion of sitting on the seat when I get in (I weigh about 160 lbs)... I can alleviate this popping noise for a few hours to a day by pumping the seat up or down a tiny bit just to kind of "reset" it, then it stops and feels solid, and then almost loosens back up after a little while and starts again... it seems like now its not the seat rail and something to do with the seat mechanism for adjusting up/down

mine starting moving for a third time and took it back to dealership. They said was same as other ones on lot. So be ready to hear that one when canā€™t figure out how to fix it. Tried to fix it twice but third time itā€™s normal. Ridiculous
