Carl, can you post a pic of the/your 315/70 r17 spare mounted on the rear.

I'm probably going that route when I put new tires on my 2dr. I have plastic bumpers. I'm wanting to see if I will have enough clearance since I wish to keep the same tire carrier.

For right now I have kept the 285 spare on. Christmas is coming and I've been going through money like water. When I ordered the Jeep my pickups tires needed replacing, so getting the 35's for the jeep made sense for me. Also the reason for the white letters on my order. Also I have the metal bumpers and thought that I read that it might possibly make a difference compared to the plastic. Not sure if I want to stay with the stock wheels or up grade to the Borah wheels when they are released in the JL spec. I like the flush look. That all may have an effect how the spare fits the tailgate when all mounted up.
Edit: Also I think I'm going with the AEV rear bumper when released if it works with the rear sensors.

Ok... Hopefully someone else can tender a pic of the 315/70 r17 BFG K02 on stock rim mounted on stock rear tire carrier on their RUBI JL that has a stock plastic bumper.

I think the plastic bumper is a tad more forgiving. If you have a stock rim with315/70 r17 on it and you have stock tire carrier, there is more room between tire and bumper if the bumper is plastic versus if it has a steel bumper. ??

I thought I read the same thing about the Rubi steel bumper, it was easier to use a 35" spare than the plastic bumper, one reason why I ordered the steel bumper group. No personal experience yet.
