Went with a factory match. They used 3M I think 15%, costed me $80. Looks good and the heat rejection was immediately noticeable.

This is product from “ASWF” (American Standard Window Film). Cool to support an American company. They’ve got the “normal” (cheaper) stuff as well as infrared ceramic (or “IRP” as the newer ceramic stuff is called).

They also have windshield protection! Amazing! This will prevent rock chips and cracks (as Wrangler owners, we all know how our windshields crack like crazy!). I’m so excited about the protection from them. I wish Jeep would partner with them and just do it from the factory - either way, I’m covered now! I replaced a windshield on my JL and it was pricey if you want OEM glass (with all the cool Jeep logos we get). Even pricier now with the acoustic glass!

I don’t like tint to be too dark - so I asked them to keep it moderate. In my opinion, they nailed it. The Jeep is much cooler inside now and sunglasses are now optional for me, even on a super sunny day like today. Great feeling knowing the windshield has a layer of protection on it, too!

This is 70% on the windshield, 70% on all rear windows and tailgate window, and 25% on the front windows - then of course their windshield protection, as well.

With their IRP ceramic film, the heat rejection is far greater than the “tint” percentage - it was something like 90% heat rejection all the way around.

I also just went through the carwash and had no issues with the windshield protector - it did great, just as they advertised.

The optical clarity on the tint and windshield protector is nothing short of outstanding. I’m thrilled with it - we turned around and had them do my wife’s Cherokee after my JLUR (skipped the windshield protection on hers though, it’s just imperative on a Wrangler but I saw it as optional on a non-Wrangler).

I’d recommend calling around to find a local tint shop that carries ASWF films, and getting one of their IRP films and also the windshield protector. I’m loving it!

Ok, never thought of tinting the windows as I live in Michigan and our sky is overcast. We average about 175 days of sun an year. SO the other days are fucked. I plan on traveling out west a lot in the Jeep so it looks like tint will be part of the upgrade. So off to check the laws for Michigan.

Thanks, this is the SCS K5 wheels and Nitto Ridge Grappler 37x13.50r17.

The tint really made a difference in the overall appearance (not to mention safety and heat rejection).

Hey all, does anyone have any info on the comparison between ASWF, 3M and others? I’m looking for more than just the marketing stuff. Hard to find anything on the web that’s any newer than 2015... and much of that seems to be tint shops banging on each other or just marketing videos by the manufacturers.

20% to match the back but not legal in BC Canada. So may not last long but look wicked can’t put any tint on the front windows in BC. Sucks anyone had issues with cops and tint tips to avoid not getting pulled over lol.

Nice mojito, what is your tint% on the front?
15% on the front side windows. I asked the shop to match the rear to equal the 15%, so I think that they used a 50% film for that.

Great idea for a thread! In addition to the fact that the factory tint is privacy glass only with limited heat rejection properties, I’d like to add from my research so far, only aftermarket tint adds the UV protection as well, so another reason to get even extremely light tint around the rear windows as well.
