Had mine at the dealer on saturday...he said the problem is a faulty door latch on the drivers side. Need to wait two weeks for a part to come in now.

Im writing this from a gas station waiting on a tow. The auto stop engaged at a red light and then wouldnt restart. Service auto start popped up. I pushed it and dumped the clutch to fire it up. Got it parked and voltage is below 11 volts. Every warning light is on. Scanner read " too many dtcs. Contact dealer". 7000 miles and nor a single problem.

Except for a radio that like to reset while driving. I guess that they can look at that too.

And now...just like magic my warning light went off and the service message went away. Have an appointment for the new door latch in a week. Now what??

My Jeep went back in the shop, this time in Nashville, for the same reason. They had it for a week. They said a wire to the power steering wasn’t pushed in all the way. They ‘fixed’ it, and did two test drives in the rain. The problem always starts when it’s raining.

I start my 2.5 hour drive back to Knoxville. 30 minutes in, it starts again. I drive the remaining 2 hours in the rain, without power steering, and the dash flashing like a Christmas tree. I live in Knoxville and just wanted it at the local dealer.

This will be the third dealer to try and fix the issue. They gave me a Cherokee loaner which is better than the minivan I had from Nashville. I am confident it will get fixed. I am just getting tired of the lost personal/ family time dealing with it. I will post more when I know more.

Was it 11v running or stopped? Have you monitored the running voltage both normal and during the failure? That might provide useful information.

Mine went in Wednesday for this issue. Was on for 2 weeks before I could get into dealer. They did a software update. So far two days and all is good.

Hey TacoSmooth & Shaved Ice,

If either of you (or anyone else here) is working with a dealer and needs assistance having this addressed, just shoot us a PM any time.

This dealership, the third, has had the Jeep for a full week now. They called yesterday to confirm all of the symptoms I told them about. The codes went away and the Jeep isn’t showing any problems. That is the same thing that happened the two previous times. They said they will keep working on it and keep me informed.

Tennessee lemon law says either 4 attempts to fix the same issue or 30 days loss of use. Right now, this is the third attempt and it has been in the shop for 14 days total, so the clock is ticking. I still hope they fix it though.

I will post more when I know more.

My 2018 JLUR displayed this Auto Start/Stop error the day after I washed the engine bay. (went offload at Windrock OHV Park and got mud everywhere). Error showed every time I drove the Jeep that day. The next day the error was gone and has never returned.
I suspect something got wet and caused the error. OP was driving in rain I see.

So I took mine in this morning to get the door latch replaced, as they determined that was the culprit. However after installing the new latch, now they can’t even open the frigging door! Now I have a loaner, and they are taking the inside of the door apart trying to figure out a way to get it open. Yea.
They have no idea how long the fix will take or what to do. I really hope they don’t scratch the hell out of the interior trying to access the door panel.
This sucks.

I gave the dealership permission to let the tech take my Jeep home for the night, since test drives couldn’t replicate what my Jeep was doing. Fortunately, or unfortunately, the Jeep gave him the same loss of power steering and 50+ codes it gave me. He said it scared him.

Anyway, they have corporate trying to figure it out now. They don’t have too much longer before it gets the lemon treatment.

Update: The tech from FCA corporate came to my dealership to look at my JL and another problem child the dealership has. The power steering issue and codes happened to him during his test ride, so that was good. He ordered a new PCM and power-steering control module. I should have it back in about a week, though there is no arrival date for the parts yet.

I could have lemoned the Jeep but the dealership was making waiting as easy as possible. FCA corporate was this issue. I hope this fixes the issues and I never have an issue that raises to their level again.

You have more patience than me. I would have lemoned the Jeep and asked for a 2019. Hope they get your Jeep figured out!

I really need to stop reading all the threads in the "Issues, Repairs, Warranty, TSB, Recalls" section. I ordered a 2019...

How has your Jeep handled since the ‘fix’? Appreciate your details on the problems and attempts to fix it. I have the same issue! I cannot replicate it. Has happened several times while off-roading and also normal street driving. SCARY! Power steering goes out when turning to the right only, Start/Stop is disabled for no reason. Have to strong arm to turn the wheel. Then suddenly power steering kicks back on and drives normal. Happened while going around a curve and almost went head-on into traffic. Sat on the side of the road until I could get power steering to engage again.
