Thank you - that’s extremely helpful!!

Feeling comfortable on snowy mountain roads is a major factor for me, so I won’t rush into rash mods until my JL has a first winter under his/her belt (I don’t know if it’s a boy or a girl yet...).
- I would say it’s not so much the width of the tire but the type of tire.
- I was living in Chicago with my first Jeep. And I used Nitto M/T (Mud Terrain) tires. Many people get M/T tires because they look Awesome and Aggressive! The problem is they perform horrible in snow and winter weather. And badly on wet pavement. They are also noisy and you get a really harsh ride. And they wear quickly!
- So, the tire type and brand matters. All the companies make M/T tires.
- I now use a Hybrid tire. Still has an aggressive look and is off-road capable but it’s much better in snow and wet conditions. And it’s quiet and wears better. Just not as aggressive looking as the M/T.

- Many people like the Mickey Thompson Baja. But I chose the Nitto Ridge Grappler Hybrid because I liked the look better. And they ride great, I am happy with them.

Very good advice indeed.
Thanks again, Gary! :)

It really does!!! :like:

Thank you so much for taking the time to share such a detailed and informative answer. It’s folks like you who make the JL forums so great!

I (and others) learn a lot here. :please: And it’s fun, too!
One amendment to my prior statement about not getting a lift. I don’t do crazy off-roading. If you do off-reading and need more ground clearance then a lift is the answer.

I had Goodyear Wrangler Duratracs (35X12.5-17) that were rated pretty well for snow. I'd say they are also a hybrid. They had decent sipes for hard snow and ice but you could really feel the resistance in deeper snow. IMO you need a narrower tire for winter conditions. I did get around ok but that comes with a crap load of experience of driving in winter conditions. The advantage you gain in the ground clearance of the 35 is negated by the 12.5 width. Again IMO.

Thank you Gary, much appreciated. Now I’ll try to absorb your words of wisdom and stop derailing the color focus of this thread!
Thanks for helping out a fellow Sting Gray!

Ha, I remember how much FUN it was researching mods for my 2015 JKU build! I spent 3 months (prior to ordering my JK) on forums and the interwebs in search of the perfect combination of mods. I definitely achieved my goal and got to spend the last 3 years enjoying my creation!

I have decided that my stock SG JLUR is perfect for me. I will not be modifying it - at all. Now I get to sit back, relax and enjoy watching how creative y'all can be modding your new JL Wranglers! :like:

Keeping it stock??? That's what I said.:facepalm::giggle:

Your stock Jeep will always handle better with the stock setup opposed to a lift and bigger tires, IMHO. The only reason to go that route is if you plan to go off-road. Then again, some folks do it for purely aesthetic reasons.
I had a 3.5" @Metalcloak Game Changer and 35" BFG A/T's on my JUKR, I had the opposite experience with that lift. It rode and handled better than stock on and off road. I slung it thru curves and corners better than when it was stock, also it was much smoother hitting potholes and bumps in the road, and curbs at the mall, too lol (couldn't resist that comment.) On the trail it was amazing, articulation was awesome and i didn't feel beat up from getting bounced around on the trail. You get what you pay for with lifts and such, I'll definitely be going with Metalcloak again.

I finally pick up mine yesterday, from @Travis@TriCityJeep. Buying and pickup experience was awesome! This color......well, you have to see it in person, words don't do it justice. Of course its been cloudy and raining off and on here since I got it, so these pictures will have to do for now. It was definitely worth the wait!

I’m waiting on my Sting Gray JLUR and looking to order a Jtops sunshade but can’t decide on color. What colors have people gone with? If you have pictures, let’s see’em!

Congrats! Maybe we'll run past each other in Charlotte. I still don't think I've seen another SG besides mine, but when it's cloudy or raining it's not always entirely clear whether the color is SG or Granite. (Oh, your garbage can lid is up. May want to put that down before it rains....)

It didnt happen unless there’s pictures. Totally walked into this one. It was built last week, dealer had it less than a week. 3 miles on it when I claimed it. Customer had ordered it in January and got tired of waiting. Mine!

We all know it changes color in different light but it also changes color with a wash. Other than hitting a trail and really getting dirty, this color completely hides daily grime. Washing it is like getting a whole new car.
