I was up there at the same time! Rubicon was a breeze. We did it in 8 hours, camped, and then wound up heading to Barrett Lake Trail. We were the first JL and first public 4x4 to hit Barrett Lake Trail, as we were there when the gate opened for the season. Barrett Lake was more technical than the Rubicon, due to some really tight switchbacks, and we sustained a few scrapes along the way, but it was well worth the 3 hours to the lake. Excellent camping, good swimming, and only saw 3 other 4x4's on the trail on our way out.
