Was going through some old photos and came across some pics of my 2013 JKU Freedom Edition. Thought it would be nice to compare the two and see if others who had or still have a JK post their pics to compare builds and any thoughts on what they changed or have changed.
For me, my JKU build consisted of the following:
- AEV 2.5” lift w/geo correction brackets
- Rugged Ridge wheels with 33” tires
- Warn Elite series bumpers front/rear
- Bestop Trextop NX
- Bestop soft doors
- Smittybilt X20 winch
- Kargo Master cage
JL build:
- Warn Zeon 10s winch
- Yakima cargo basket
- Factory Steel Bumpers
Thoughts about both builds:
Really liked the buildout of my JKU, but it became hard to live with it as a commuter. It was also a manual transmission, so that didn’t help things. When it was all done, all the work which was done by myself, turned the Jeep into a very personal build. It was hard to let it go.
For the JL I wanted to start out with the intention of keeping a mostly stock build with minor changes. I also opted for an auto so it would make a better daily driver. I keep resisting the urge to build it out...it’s hard to resist.
