Wheeled Cliffhanger today. This was Gary and Angie first hard trail in Moab. It unsettled Gary a couple of times. There was a couple crazy of camber climes and decents that can be un-nerving.

There were many pics that I missed while sporting today because….I was spotting.

If you look close there are climbers on this rock face.

I thought this kind of looked like a gorilla.

WTF she offered to help air up????

Great day of wheeling. Thinking of something a little let’s strenuous tomorrow like Onion Creek.

What a trail! I’ve wheeled some in Moab but haven’t hit this one yet. Definitely looks like a few fun climbs.

After seeing those trail pics you piqued my curiosity, watched this Cliffhanger youtube video. OMG, now that's one bad run! Ted how did the difficulty on this compare to the Rubicon? And Kudos to you and your crew, that's some serious spotting req'd all over that trail!

The Rubicon is harder. Cliffhanger took us about 5 hours to run it and the trail is almost 9 miles long round trip.

In comparison the Rubicon Trail from Loon Lake to Lake Tahoe is 12 miles, but the last 2 miles is like a bad dirt road. It took us 17 1/2 hours of driving to cover the 12 miles. So more like 17 hours to do 9 miles on the Rubicon trail and a half hour to do the last 2 miles.

We wheeled Onion Creek today and then hiked part Fishers Tower.
Onion Creek trail has 27 water crossing. None are deep, the trail/road is smooth for the most part and can easily be done with just about any SUV type vehicle. We did not use 4wd at all. It has incredible views and was a fun drive. I would do it again just for the views.

When you think your doing cool jeep stuff and pass this along the trail.

After driving Onion Creek, we hiked Fishers part of Fushers Towers. We did not hike the whole trail as we had to be back to Moab by 5 pm.

I thought this was a cool shot with the moon in the afternoon.

I have been to Moab many times. I have great memories of Cliffhanger and many other hard trails (and easier ones) out there. That video is pretty good but I think it was probably done during EJS. I have never been there during EJS. I figure that if I want to sit in traffic I can do that in Denver. I usually go with a group of 5 to 8 rigs. We have been friends for a long time and know what to expect from each other. Good times!

There are great trails outside of the "Moab area" that are worth doing. The west side of Hole in the Rock which goes out of Escalante. Is really good. Not terribly challenging but you get a real sense of the Mormons that settled that part of the country and how sturdy they were. The other side of Hole in the Rock which goes out of Monticello was also great fun. That part was two days for us. Camped overnight on the trail in true wilderness. I wish I could get away to run some trails with you but I can't go at this time of year due to work.

I am still slowly build this rig. Only had it for 10 months. It isn't ready for Moab yet. I was running all those trails in a TJR.

This is our third time to Moab and we will be here for about a month. We have 20 Michigan jeep friends joining us today and we plan to wheel with them this coming week and then explore the trails that are less run plus do some rafting, canyoneering and a bunch of hiking.

So yesterday we wheeled with our 20 friends from our local Lansing Area Jeep Club in Moab. We will be wheeling with them all week. We did Steel Bender,

Steel Bender is a nice trail with some decent obstacles. Nothing hard. Nothing that requires much spotting. After Steel Bender we ran Long Canyon. A very scenic ride. The wind was strong and was blowing sand everywhere.

These girls know how to wheel.

My bud Todd spent some time getting this LJ restored. It turned out fantastic.

On our way back to Moabfrom Long Canyon we swung in and ran Poison Spyder up to the waterfall.

Almost flopped the Dritigirl on her side.
