Last week, there were red, orange, and yellow leaves everywhere. This week, to my surprise, it was full blown winter.

The water droplets on my hood didn't thaw on the ~15 mile journey to my air down spot.

Sadly, I wasn't the first guy on the trail, and somebody else busted up all the ice holes. All except the really nasty hole most people are too scared (or too smart?) to drive through. I got a drone video of myself ripping through that one. I haven't looked at it yet. I'll post when I get something edited together.

In the meantime, here's a shot of some of the ice that ended up on my front bumper. The winch was pretty much entombed. Good thing I didn't need to use it!

Swingarm City is In Utah, definitely recommend the trip. Its not too far out past Capitol Reef State park.

Thanks for the info! I’ll have to add it to my stopping points. In Arizona so Utah isn’t too far away. Heading to Moab next week with a small group. Hmmm…wonder if I can convince them to swing by

Got back this past Sunday from a 5-day trip with friends to Big Bend National Park here in Texas. Truly one of the best trips I've ever been on. Ever. Have never had the opportunity to get down to Big Bend because of it's remoteness, but so glad we did, and we ran the Black Gap Road Badge of Honor Trail as part of it. Tent camped at Rancho Topanga Campround (totally recommended) just outside Terlingua. The park itself rivals any other national park in the west for it's massive scale and desert beauty. Totally recommend for anyone who has thought about getting there. And Terlingua, a turn-of-last-century mercury mining town that serves as the lodging/fueling/eating hub, is quite the adventure on its own. Some truly unique people live and pass through there...very entertaining!

Thanks very much. This was my first time trying to take starfield shots, so was happy a number of them turned out very well. It was challenging during the time I was taking them as there was a half moon out every night that was like a massive spotlight on the desert. That provided a cool lighting effect on the landscape, but made it harder to capture stars--unless you wanted to hang out until ~2 am when the moon went below the horizon. LOL
