Thank you! It's the best having little trail buddies along for the ride... I wouldn't enjoy it nearly as much without them. That was awesome watching your daughter's enthusiasm! What a great memory for both of you. And loved seeing your hound dog riding shotgun as well. Thanks for sharing.
Some potato quality uploads from this weekend's camping and sunrise wheeling trip with my kiddo.
And here's a video of Trail Snail doing work on a 36° drop past the marked end of Hackamore Trail and making it look easy while my spotter-in-training got some solid practice.
Absolutely, it's the best!Doooood, it doesn't get any better. Just you, and your daughter. Now that's some good spoilin' time right there.
How was it?Imogene Pass.
Amazing!How was it?

WOW, great photography! Adding that one to the list!Lathrop Canyon Jeep trail in Canyonlands NP. Still waiting for our JLUR XR so we took the JKUR down to the picnic spot at the Colorado River this past week. We came out Potash Road to Long Canyon's entrance just down from the sentinel cottonwood and Jug Handle Arch.
Long Canyon crosses BLM land and tops out on the road to Dead Horse Point SP near the intersection with the road to Canyonlands NP, Island In the Sky district. The view of the fins and La Sals is beautiful from the top.
After stopping for a weeklong Canyonlands NP park pass and receiving free back country permit we headed down the Shafer Trail to the White Rim Trail. Stopping at the Colorado River Overlook and Musselman Arch on the way to Lathrop's entrance.
The challenges on this trail change with each flood event, over the years we have found typically there are a couple of challenges ranging from large boulders to naviigate over, shelfs at tight corners, to simply a large sandy cut bank after a recent storm when you are first down..
The best river access is a short scramble on foot to the ledges just up river from the picnic site.
On the way out I like to walk out to the Gooseneck viewpoint off the White Rim trail before heading down the rest of the Shafer Trail and back to Potash Road.
It is not a rock crawling route, just a peaceful trail presenting a challenge or two requiring a little logic to enjoy. The beauty of the lower canyon and end of the trail at the Colorado River's bank makes it a nice day trip away from the crowds while in Moab, but don't tell anyone—
The SP is great, and the NP campsites can be a pain. I have some off-the-beaten-path land there for that very reason. Love the big sky.Thank you! I've been after this shot with the Milky Way above my Jeep for some time now. I'm excited to finally have one.
I've been wanting to make my way to Big Bend for years. The stars haven't quite aligned on that trip. (you see what I did there? I'm not even a father #dadjokes) I just recently learned from another member on here that there's two Big Bend parks. I might have to try the Big Bend Ranch SP as the opportunity for camping seems to be better suited to my style (available, because it's off grid a ways), I've never been able to find a place to stay at the NP side. I've seen some amazing photos from that area though. I'm sure you'll have no problem getting a great shot as long as the weather (and moon) cooperate. Be sure to post them here, I'd love to see your astro shots!
