Started the long arm install today. Only put in a couple hours, but got the axle out, ready for cutting and grinding. Pain in the ass wrestling it by myself...........:whew:.

I’ll leave my jack stands in place for reinstall, hopefully it will make it easier to put back in.

I had so much stuff, the kit, my tools, ( I like using my own), and misc stuff, I just brought my little box trailer.

I love how you came with your own trailer ... and it wasn't for camping out!

Got some paint on it, ready to be reinstalled. Haven’t had much time to work on it this week, work is getting in the way….😔

The goal this weekend is to get all the frame side brackets, removed and installed ……🤞

Also got my sliders brackets fabricated.

Got the front back together today……

And hopefully the last surprise from my sliders, had to make a 4 point bolt, to get them in past the sliders.….….. ……….and yes I can still torque to 190 ft lbs, with the washer on I’m not concerned about it. I’ll probably try and get a shorter bolt later, but for now, this is how we’re rolling…:).

All I got left to do now is reinstall the rear axle, test drive, and adjust ……… figure I’ll have 24 hours total in the install……..:whew:

That is creative bolt. Damn sliders LOL.
Looking good man. Like I said before - THERE IS NO WAY I WOULD TRY THIS INSTALL :)

Thanks brother…….. yeah, it’s definitely labor intensive, but it’s been fun, I’ve enjoyed it. The instructions are pretty good, but you definitely need to be able to shoot from the hip on a few things. Also trying to make it work with my sliders, probably added a few hours.

I was just thinking about you and your Axle status. Lo and behold you popped up on forum list. I cannot say much cause I don't know exactly how you get the correct measurements to rebuild axle. Guess will need to read about the Long Arm kit. I am sure you know what you are doing since you are Mr. Jelly to me. ;) Sure I will see the finished product soon. I'll be on my Jeep for now.

More Long arm details:

Here’s a before and after to show how there’s almost no difference in ground clearance…….

before
Jeep Wrangler JL Crystal Rubi build… CF9511C1-905D-45BF-BC21-C2A476275972

after
Jeep Wrangler JL Crystal Rubi build… 2D4389E9-6833-497F-9E47-27195599A95E

But there’s a big difference between shock mounts on axle…….

Jeep Wrangler JL Crystal Rubi build… 95A3ACB8-B8BF-4E5B-96D4-2D39CF3C72DE
Jeep Wrangler JL Crystal Rubi build… 89D47420-E443-4BD8-BA4A-83488E6760BC

Also when dialing in my alignment, I noticed that I’m able to run a little less caster and the Jeep still tracks straight, zero wandering, this is a good thing, now my pinion angle is a little better and my bump stops hit more squarely when stuffed. This is significant, as I’m probably going to get hydros.

Jeep Wrangler JL Crystal Rubi build… 58F74B30-2170-46F5-A465-1E09B752506A

So far the pros are far exceeding the cons, well the only one con I’ve found so far, that is. When I’m stuffed in the rear the arm is hitting the body mount bolt…… There's nothing in the instructions for this, so I called RK, and they gave me a fix, but I’ll go into that more when I research it further to see if that’s what I want to do, or run more bump, which I really don’t want to do……..

Update…….fixed the body mount problem…

So I did RKs recommended fix for the rear arm hitting the body mount bolt. I removed the body mount bolts cut a 1/2” off of them and cut a 1/2” off the bushing. Removing the body bolts was more stressful then all the cutting for the kit, lol. I’ll report back after shakedown run……….pics….✌
