So they are going to fill the 23k plus orders for these Jeeps ordered over a month ago, and ship them and deliver them within 2-3 weeks to meet the 6-8 week period or the 8-12 week deadline? I think not!
I'm unsure why you think there's a deadline. They make them when they make them. Any window given is a very rough estimate. But yes, I do think they will start building them this month, and sadly for early orderers, they may ship before some of the units that are crammed into storage in Marion.

I was told that my build, which I have a VON for and paid a deposit for, will not be started until July. This was via a phone call from a Jeep chat specialist after my original inquiry was escalated to a supervisor. Was advised that I should contact my dealership if I do not want to wait that long.
Insert finger pointing!

If you ask Jeep chat! They will say your build is in schedule status and is on schedule, if you moved to D1 thatā€™s because they canā€™t keep you in scheduling over 30 days or itā€™s a delay! Ask them I dare ya! And second never in the history of FCA has it taken weeks to get a VIN! And proof of this, go to a dealer, have them order your same vehicle and they will say sorry we canā€™t, itā€™s closed, then have them order the same build in a different color, YOU WILL HAVE A VIN WITHin 72hours! Those are facts and please go do those things to prove me wrong. I wish I was kidding but Iā€™m not.. my dealer even received his allocation he ORDERED LAST MONTH AND IN APRIL for sting gray and was able to order other colors and have a arrival date of may27th so.....

Thatā€™s horrible. Iā€™m in the same boat, ordered 3/27 and only have VON. When did you order? I still have faith, maybe it happens in the next month. Literally nobody knows what they are talking about. Someone posted here a few weeks back that sting gray would not be orderable with painted top until 2019, 100% positive, legit source from jeep. It was orderable a week later. So I take everything with a grain of salt. And I hope

I had a VIN in 48 hours, and moved to D1 after 2 weeks. Granted, I don't have a body colored top. It would make sense that a dealer would want to change their allocations so that they will have as many as possible on lot for Spring.

You seem tense. Maybe have a drink. I'm partial to Jack Daniels single barrel.

Also not being a dick or trying to fight lol, multiple dealers and consumers have reported the July build dates for the new monotone matching tops
If I had ordered a color-matched hard top I would be upset, or if I had waited for Sting-Gray and now have to decide whether to skip the color-matched top or wait until late delivery I would also be upset. And I would want some definitive information so I could make up my mind.

But I think you are putting some things together that don't necessarily go together.

- I would not be surprised if there are issues with the color matching hard top. And those issues may cause delays building them

- The 6 week gap between when ordering opened and when (we hope) they start being built is not unusual

- The reason there is only 1 Sting-Gray is that it is a pre-production paint spec that was sent to a dealer. This is also not unusual

- The fact that the first one built is an auto with a black hard top is also not surprising. That's the first configuration they do for everything

- Jeep chat is not participating in some grand conspiracy to keep the truth about sting-gray from us

- Jeep would not do a press release to announce a delay in the availability of an option on a low-volume late-availability color for the Wrangler

- Jeep has guidelines for how long things are in each phase, but they are not deadlines. Clearly. There are a lot of Jeeps that haven't met that timeline

So far, I would say with the exception of color-matched tops, Sting-Gray is right on schedule. If they don't start building in the next two weeks then maybe I will change my mind on that. I ordered on February 29th and told my wife I thought I would get it in early June. I think that is a realistic, appropriate expectation.

Just did, Iā€™m just a little upset that after all of this waiting no one can get true info from the manufacturer... doesnā€™t that seem odd?

Just for a little historical perspective:

http://www.wranglerforum.com/f274/how-long-after-order-to-get-a-vin-118014.html#post1664635

Here is the thing - I have been doing this for 5 years now! Circumstances have finally aligned where I can get my Jeep. I have seen all this before. And that was on the JK which was a mature platform. Everyone just needs to chill a little. Either compromise and get a Jeep now or wait for what you want. But if you wait there are no guarantees.

Placed my order today and also stopped at the dealer where they have that one Sting Gray. They have a 20k markup just because they have the "only" one out so far

I also ordered on 3/27 from Koons. Received this update from a Jeep chat rep who called me from 1-800-850-7827. I was considering changing to a black hard top so Jeep chat offered to escalate and call me. Was actually pretty surprised to receive a phone call from them today.

Serious question, what do you guys think about the optional Rubi wheels? They remind me a bit of an old Land Rover wheel. I like them, but I think I still prefer the stock wheel. Your thoughts??
I will have aftermarket wheels within a week with the OEM BFGā€™s on my Rubicon.

Iā€™ll be that guy.

Based upon uncertainty of order to delivery timelines...and with chatter of builds in July

Is anyone, considering changing their order? :computerrage::facepalm::headbang::swear:
