Hello all,

New to the forum! I just traded in my 2018 Grand Cherokee High Altitude for my first wrangler, a 2020 Firecracker Red JLU Sahara. I checked most boxes on the option sheet and am excited to start making mods. Living in Houston, I don’t get off the pavement much, so I plan to keep my build pretty mild, and always with on road drivability in mind, as she is my daily driver. I do enjoy getting muddy when I can, so I’ll be tracking my build here. I am here to learn, so please feel free to share any thoughts. Many thanks!

Clay

Very first mod - have to carry around the kids - Nelson a Boerboel (150 lbs), Barron an English Bulldog (40 lbs) and Furby a Yorkie (a scale tipping 5.2 lbs). First addition had to be the full coverage Smittyblit cargo liner.

Nice looking rig.
Are you going to lift your Jeep and add bigger tires?
I understand that most of the time, your JLU will be on road surfaces.
Upgrades to the steering is a nice start (e.g., SteerSmart stuff, Synergy Sector Shaft brace).

I do plan to upgauge the tires, but after a lot of shopping, I think I’ll keep the stock rims. I plan to combine this with a lift - probably Mopar or Teraflex.

I’d love to do steering upgrades as she wanders on the highway far more than I’m used to. I need to do a lot more research first, though. I welcome any information or guidance.

Nice, I was thinking of getting this. How do you think it performs compared to the OEM antenna?
I don’t listen to much radio, admittedly. Big on BTA, but when I tried it, quality seemed the same!

Greetings, Clay -

Late reply to your thread as I just joined. Your post indicates living in Houston may limit your off-road duty. Fully understand. My hometown is Dallas (though I currently live in Portland). If your future off-roading will likely be somewhat limited, as mine will, you might be interested in checking my Bulid thread: '20 Sahara JL "Build". It's a bit more of a street-oriented build.

Best,
Will
