Went for hike today, figured I'd be artsy before heading out.

I'm new to Billet Silver Metallic, but I noticed at my local dealer a Rubicon had a lot of metal flake in the paint and a Compass in the same color on sticker in the window did not have the metal flake, looked more like a "normal" silver. Are my eyes playing tricks on me or is this a known thing?

I haven't heard of or noticed it, but I haven't looked that closely at a Compass. Guess I will next time I see one.

tons of metallic flakes (and rainbows) in billet. I think it is specifically called billet metallic silver:

Added some KC a-pillar light brackets and a pair of Gravity LED Pro6 Wide-40 lights to the a-pillar this evening. Can’t wait to see how well they work at night.

They are the AEV Borah wheel. These are the Onyx color with the protection ring option. A beadlock ring is also available. No ring is the default set-up.

How hard is the protection ring to install? I am leaning towards getting wheels with one

It’s an simple task to install the 24 protection bolts. You initially tighten to 10 lb-ft via a 1-6-9-3 clock pattern and continue on accordingly.

The rings do help in protecting the wheels’ finish. My rings have a handful dings and gouges.

Reduced my Jeep’s weight, today.
What roof rack is that? I've been considering one, and it seems to be what I'm looking for. I want low profile, I want to be able to use my sunrider, and I want it to mount to the gutters rather than drilling through the roof in case I decide to take it off later.

That is the EVO MFG. JL roof rack. I have 2 Rotopax mounts along with the Maxtrax. Have only had the need to carry gas once. However, water always gets mounted up there.

This rack does require periodic paint maintenance, like everything else. Aside from that, this rack has seen some 28,xxx travel and trail miles in the past 1 - 1/2 years.

Today is the day I tell myself, no more mod! We will see how long it will last.
