Air compressor

Looking for a decent air compressor that I don't have to give up a kidney for. I bought a cheap one from home depot that said it would fill larger tires.... it does but it takes for flipp'n ever. Without getting into the ARB budget has anyone found a better alternative?

If you are on a budget this one works also. I had this one for a few years before i bought the 2781 model.

I got the puma small compressor with tank, it was a bit over $200 on ebay but works really well, has 100% duty cycle and is built like a tank. only issue is it is big and heavy.

I got the Bulldog 41000, it's made for filling 37" tires. I have 35's and it airs them from 12 lbs to 35 lbs in less than 2 minutes per tire. I've been extremely happy with it. I bought for temporary use until I installed an onboard air system but it works so well that I've postponed doing it.

I have used Viair compressors for years, they are available in many sizes and price points

Recently purchased a Viair 400. It will be used as a backup to my powertank.

In testing it out, it works very well.

Adding to an older thread. I went out with a bunch of JL and JKs on a winter run, aired down to 11 psi. When it came time to air back up, we had 4 different compressors in use. The lowly Superflow MV50, the larger Superflow MV90, a single ARB and a Dual Arb. The MV90 seeem3 the quickest but it still took a long time to air up.

I researched and settled on the Puma PD1006, and will test it out. It has a 1.5 gallon tank and with the hose, wiring and Anderson plugs, I’m into it for about $300. The Puma PD1012 is the same but with a 3 gallon tank. Both are large but not crazy big. They will outperform all of the above and not heat up as much as the Superflow did.

Update, I tested the Puma and it filled my 35” Ridge Grappler from 15psi to 36 psi in about 2min 30 seconds, not bad

I have a VIAIR 450P which is ok.. does the job... but looking at air tank solutions now.

As a point of reference, just in case your budget has risen and you need to fill up tires quickly......my dual ARB via a 4 hose setup will fill my 37” tires from 15psi to 33psi in 6 minutes. It’s quick. The pump cost way too much, but I’m happy with the purchase.

I have the same one. It will work. Just takes a bit longer. It will get hot but most of them do.

It’s a good pump for the price.

Nice, I purchased the Bulldog 4100 it's crazy fast and out performs the SmityBuilt and single ARB too and at $179. only downside is the cheap coil air hose with Japanese Nitto/ type Q plugs. I am spending a few extra $$ to replace the fixtures and use a 50' hose I have on hand then I am going to try and run the cables and Anderson plugs through the cab and into the cargo compartment as more of a permanent power source, I'm not very smart on electrical work so we'll see how it goes.
