I figured I would begin a build journal to document my journey with my first ever Jeep.

A bit about me, I am currently a student going to the University of Utah and also have been working as a car salesman at the largest Jeep dealer in Utah for the past 4 years. I’ve been to Moab a number of times with groups mountain biking and jeeping, and always thought it was a blast. Growing up a rode dirt bikes, act’s, side by sides, etc. I used to race diesel trucks in highschool (built my duramax to 1164 HP w/ nitrous), competed in automotive competitions, and became a self taught mechanic. From the diesels I bought a hellcat and drove that for 2 years, loved it and the speed but I was ready for something new. Since I bought my Jeep 3 months ago I have had nothing but absolute enjoyment from it, reminding me of how much I enjoy wheeling/off-roading in general.

Below are some pics of the build so far. I did 5% ceramic tint with 35% on the windshield (how all of my vehicles have been). Drove it stock for 2 months and did some wheeling at 5 mile, an OHV recreation area close to Salt Lake City that is great in the winter as there is little snow there. Actually did some damage to my rear bumper there attempting to climb a muddy hill where I got pinched between a rock.

Two weeks ago I installed 37” Nitto Grapplers on 17” Fuel wheels, I love them and was very impressed in Moab (as was other people in our group). They are very quiet on the road and still provide an aggressive look. I was able to run them for a few days before I put my lift on and they barely cleared without rubbing for driving on the roads.

I also installed a teraflex ST3 lift with the falcon 3.3 shocks. It rode great on the trail and I love the adjustability feature of the shocks, however I might be contacting teraflex to have my shocks re-valved to 2dr specs to make them a bit softer on the roads.

Last weekend was my first time taking the Jeep to some trails that were challenging. I planned a weekend camping trip to Moab and was able to convince some other friends to tag along. We did poison spider on Sunday and had a great spotter with us in the group so we were able to all complete the trail with ease. The next day he had to return home and those of us that stayed did Kane Creek. I have done Kane Creek before with my work group, and it is my favorite trail in Moab but it definitely tested the limits of some of our rigs. We had a 2dr manual Sahara that we had to winch up one part after hamburger hill, but other than that it just took time to find the right lines.

Lets just say I have realized that I love the slow, technical crawling that really challenges a driver to find the right line and many of the people in our group were not prepared for that. We ended up taking 6-7 hours to complete the trail and drove home after, I arrived in SLC at 3 am. I would absolutely go back tomorrow to do it again though.

Some pics from the trip.

It's good to see you here, Caden. I may have run into you at times when I visit the West Valley Jeep dealership. And, it's where I've ordered (Jan 9th) my Wrangler Unlimited Sahara Diesel. I've received confirmation of a VIN, but no other movement on a build.

I think your Jeep looks great.
