Ironically the water shelves were empty at Sams club this morning BUT the corona shelf was fully stocked. I told the kids to suck it up because its corona from here on out, btw my youngest is 23 hahaha... Stay safe and skip the modelo I've seen enough westerns to know whiskey is the cure all....
Just don't waste it on the horses. They have very naive palates, and will settle for Bud Lite.

We've got employees in Japan and it's on lock down. You probably want to rethink your trip until we see if it burns out and clears up.
Exec friend in the socal space biz was scheduled to go to Japan in the past few weeks. Found out last night, she had cancelled. Her doc said it was a bad idea. The company said they couldn't let her back to work for a while if she went.

Our family cancelled our plan to vacation in Italy this year. Italy is a hot bed of C-19 for Europe.

These plans to "bug out" are ridiculous. Just stay home. I live in the burbs of LA. There are 24 million people here. After a surgery, I have gone for 3 weeks without any personal contact with someone outside of my house. If you don't want to be around other people, you don't have to. At home, I have shelter, electricity, gas, food, water, guns and ammo. I can even order food from amazon and a host of other delivery systems. There is no information that C-19 is waterborne nor would survive the chlorine levels in public water. There is no information that C-19 survives heat from cooking.

Agreed, generally. Additionally, the WHO is now saying this:

“People keep saying [the cases are the] tip of the iceberg. But we couldn’t find that. We found there’s a lot of people who are cases, a lot of close contacts — but not a lot of asymptomatic circulation of this virus in the bigger population. And that’s different from flu. [...]”

What is known : highly contagious, long incubation time (21 + days) . Low mortality rate in young, healthy people. High mortality rate in older ( 40+) people with underlying health issues.
What I haven't seen , discussion of chronic health issues after recovering ,ie, lung damage requiring long term care or medical equipment. Of course, this outbreak is still in its infancy, a lot of the knowledge has to come from Chinese authorities.

Huge events and venues are being cancelled all over the World. Huge trade shows are being cancelled in large Cities like Chicago. Chicago just cancelled the Housewares Show that was expected to draw 60,000 visitors. The Geneva Auto Show is cancelled, many other venues are cancelled or delayed. The Bejing Auto Show is coming up, I have to believe that will get cancelled. There are reports Japan is considering canceling the summer Olympics.

Staying home for a few weeks is the best advice if it turns out to be more serious here in the States. I would not rely on any food delivery services if there is a quarantine. A few weeks worth of canned foods like canned tuna, spam, sardines, beans, veggies, frozen meals, peanut butter, pasta ,rice, bread, toilet paper, beverages, etc and done. Anyone who needs meds should have enough medical prescriptions. Probably a good idea to have a months supply of prescriptions for anyone who needs them. Problem is some insurance companies might not allow more than a month's supply to be prescribed at a time. I'd talk to your doctor and see if they could prescribe meds differently if that's a possibility.

One unknown is if there will be looting? Large cities like LA, NY, Chicago have had rampant rioting and looting during crisis before. Thugs and idots use anything as a excuse to run rampant. Here in Chicago they flipped over and burned police cars, rioted, looted in some parts of the City when the Bulls won a championship. Hell, we have large groups of flash thugs causing chaos in major shopping districts during the busiest hours.

That's relying on a pretty big assumption the food/packaggeing/etc is kept sterile AFTER cooking.

I would not suggest ordering take-out. I meant packaged/canned. If this carries on into the summer, the heat of the day/sunshine will kill the virus setting in the driveway. If it's not hot enough, a large cardboard box with out vents and a hair dryer/heatgun/heat lamp will make for a virus killer oven you could place over the delivery box before touching it. There are a lot better things to do that bug-out is all I was saying. If bugging out becomes a thing, there will be road bandits out there trying to steal your stuff, maybe with deadly force. Staying home is a much more rational choice unless your house is burning.

Been following this thing since it hit the news back in January (Chinese New Years Eve). Many people drown on their own mucus and drop dead in the street, office, or hospital waiting room. I knew this was coming so I went out very early on and bought water, hand sanitizer, n95 masks, and of course ammo. I live in Westchester NY which is where the big NY outbreak is. They are closing some of the schools here with more surely to follow.

Its not the virus itself that is so disrupting, it's the hysteria always remember that. If any of you have ever been through a hurricane, with the gas stations running out of fuel, grocery stores empty and so on. You should expect it to be like that but worse. Or how about power stations shutting down because there is no one there to run them. Get ready as if there is a hurricane is coming, and prey that the virus does not stop at your door.

Preparation isn’t hysteria.

Something useful:

Between the masks, and hand washing/sanitizing and keeping those hands away from your face, and avoiding public places where possible, I've heard from reliable sources that eye protection, for those not already wearing glasses, can help reduce the spread.

Genuinely curious, do you have any article links that say people drop dead from drowning in their own mucus?
