Just curious. What did you go with instead? Also does this have Nav and Satellite radio? Do you have the dealer code?

FYI, you don’t need the unlock code. The dealer can use the VIN of the Jeep you are putting it into to generate a code. Source: me. I’ve done it.
tell me more about this please. I was going to buy this radio but two dealers I have talked to in Orlando were very unhelpful.

dealer #1 told me if I put this in they will void the warranty on electrical components (wtf?!)
dealer #2 told me they have no idea what I am asking for and there is no legal (wtf?!) option to upgrade my radio...

i was like, guys you got to be kidding me...

Sounds like your dealers are just not very nice. My dealer said nothing about warranty, or legality. Granted, I just assumed that if I changed out the radio, there would be no warranty on the radio. I simply went into the parts department. Armed with the VIN of the Jeep it came out of, and of course my own. Parts guy said, it can be unlocked from a code from either the old VIN or the new. He never asked me for the old one. Used my VIN, gave me unlock, and it worked. Said any parts department can do the same if I wanted to sell my old 7". Which I did on here.

*THREADJACK* So the 8.4" just plugged right up to the 7"? I understand the little grommet that goes around the outside just covers up more "dead space" with the 7".

Yep, plugs right in. Just have to make sure you have the matching bezel to go around it.
